The national major project, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, officially opened for trial operation at 15:00 on June 30. The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link is one of the cross-sea cluster projects with the highest comprehensive construction difficulty in the world today.

The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link integrates bridges, islands, tunnels, and underwater interchanges, with a total length of about 24 kilometers. It is about 30 kilometers north of the Humen Bridge and about 31 kilometers south of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. It adopts the technical standard of a two-way, eight-lane expressway with a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour.

The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link is a core transportation hub project for implementing the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and building a comprehensive transportation system in the Greater Bay Area. The project is a key horizontal stroke in the "A"-shaped transportation network framework around the Pearl River Estuary, crossing the Lingdingyang and enabling direct cross-sea connection between the two major city clusters of "Shenzhen-Dongguan-Huizhou" and "Zhuhai-Zhongshan-Jiangmen." After opening, the drive from Shenzhen to Zhongshan will be shortened from the current 2 hours to 30 minutes.

The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link connects to the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Yanjiang Expressway, the Jihe Expressway, and the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway in the east, and to the Zhongshan-Kaiping Expressway, the Guangzhou-Macau Expressway, and the Zhongshan Eastern Outer Ring Expressway in the west. It also connects with the Nanzhong Expressway (under construction) and the Nansha Port Expressway.

The toll standard for the entire Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link is 66 yuan per standard vehicle trip. After opening, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link will also strictly implement a series of preferential policies and measures issued by the state and Guangdong Province, including free tolls for passenger cars with 7 seats or fewer during major holidays, free passage for fresh agricultural products transport via the "green channel," and a 5% discount on tolls for ETC vehicles.
