Since the beginning of this year, Hami, serving as the throat of the Eurasian Continental Bridge and the gateway hub of the "Silk Road Economic Belt," has fully leveraged its locational advantages, continuously accelerated the construction of transportation infrastructure projects, and gradually built an efficient, practical, safe, and reliable modern infrastructure system, providing strong support for the high-quality economic and social development of Hami.
In recent days, near Qijiaojing Town in Yizhou District of Hami City, the sixth contract section of the Hami–Tuyugou reconstruction and expansion project, undertaken by Xinjiang Communications Investment Construction Co., Ltd., has entered the mainline construction stage. The project route has a total length of 29.1 km, including 20.6 km of separated subgrade and 8.5 km of integral subgrade. After expansion, it will adopt the standard of a two-way, eight-lane expressway. Because the entire project is located in the Hundred-Mile Wind Zone, and due to the impact of strong winds, the effective construction period each year is less than six months. The construction unit has seized the golden construction period to fully advance project construction.
To ensure construction quality and improve the competence of all construction personnel, at the project construction site the construction unit held labor and skills competition activities under the theme of the "Silk Road Transportation Cup," encouraging frontline workers to stay committed to their posts, improve their skills, and accelerate high-quality project development. The construction unit actively coordinated with the local meteorological department and, based on wind intensity, prepared a construction organization plan and reasonably arranged supporting facilities so that the limited effective time could yield the greatest construction progress. To steadily advance mainline construction, the construction unit rationally allocated machinery and equipment, ensured close coordination among all participating personnel, strictly controlled quality standards in every construction stage, and achieved standardized flow-line operations in line excavation, transportation, testing, and other construction stages, effectively and efficiently advancing project construction.
The G30 Lianhuo Expressway Xingxingxia–Tuyugou reconstruction and expansion project consists of the G30 Lianhuo Expressway Xingxingxia–Hami section and the Hami–Tuyugou section reconstruction and expansion project, with a total length of 537.246 km and a construction drawing budget of 26.36 billion yuan. It is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in 2026, which will further enhance the capacity of the major corridor in and out of Xinjiang and improve transportation's ability to support and serve the "dual circulation."
While high-grade highway construction is being fully advanced, rural road projects are also under construction day and night. On June 24, at the construction site of Phase I of the Barkol Xinshi North Road–Changjiazhuangzi road construction project, engineering machinery such as pavers and rollers shuttled back and forth, and workers were paving the cement-stabilized base layer on the subgrade surface. The project starts at the intersection of Xinshi North Road and Hubin Road and ends at the connection with the Racecourse Road. It is a Class III highway, divided into a mainline and a branch line. The mainline is 0.9696 km long and 21 m wide, and the branch line is about 0.5098 km long and about 10 m wide, with a total route length of 1.48 km. The project entered the site for formal construction on June 10 this year and, after half a month of intensive construction, has entered the cement-stabilized paving stage.
The Barkol Xinshi North Road–Changjiazhuangzi road construction project is a tourism highway. To meet traffic demand during the peak tourism season, the construction unit has followed high-grade highway construction standards, increased inputs of personnel and machinery and equipment, and made various protective arrangements in response to high-temperature weather. After completion, the project can ease the pressure of insufficient parking spaces during the peak tourism season. In addition, 300 stalls are planned to be set up along the road to add business outlets and provide high-quality services for tourists.
Since the beginning of this year, Hami City has planned to implement and advance a total of 18 transportation and logistics projects, including 11 highway projects, with planned investment of 8.091 billion yuan, of which highway construction projects have completed investment of 4.571 billion yuan. In the first half of the year, key efforts were focused on advancing the Dachanggou (G331 Line)–Mingxin Coal Mine–G335 Line highway construction project and the S245 Hami–Dunhuang highway project, among others, with a cumulative completion of 587.68 million yuan.
