On the morning of October 10, the Academic Symposium on Intelligent Manufacturing and High-End Equipment Manufacturing opened in Xi'an. Zhou Ji, President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Chairman of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, attended and delivered a keynote report titled "Innovation-Driven, Transformation and Upgrading."     The Academic Symposium on Intelligent Manufacturing and High-End Equipment Manufacturing is a key event of Shaanxi Province's 2013 "Academic Golden Autumn," jointly hosted by the Provincial Association for Science and Technology, the Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, the Provincial State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, Northwestern Polytechnical University, and Xidian University, and organized by the Provincial Computer Society.

    In his report, Zhou Ji pointed out that manufacturing is an important pillar of the national economy, and accelerating the building of a manufacturing powerhouse is an important strategic path for implementing the innovation-driven development strategy and accelerating the pace of transformation and upgrading. He suggested organizing the formulation and implementation of "Made in China 2020," following the development strategy of "innovation-driven, quality first, green development, and structural optimization," implementing eight priority actions, and promoting China's entry into the ranks of manufacturing powerhouses by 2020 and the basic realization of industrialization. The report holds that the digitalization and intelligentization of manufacturing is the inevitable result of the deep integration of industrialization and informatization, has become a key field in which countries compete for the commanding heights of manufacturing technology, will play an important role in China's realization of innovation-driven development and transformation and upgrading, and will become a huge engine driving China to become a manufacturing powerhouse. Therefore, it is necessary to further improve the technological innovation system, promote enterprises to truly become the main body of technological innovation, strengthen research and development of industrial generic technologies, and strengthen collaborative innovation. The report holds that Shaanxi is an important manufacturing base in China, and the equipment manufacturing industry has become an important support for the transformation and upgrading of the province's industry.
