On May 26, with the successful breakthrough of the final tunnel face, the left tube of the Yujinshan Tunnel on the Zhangjiajie–Guanzhuang Expressway was holed through after 367 days of construction, making it the **first tunnel among the six tunnels on the expressway to achieve double-tube breakthrough.

The Zhangjiajie–Guanzhuang Expressway is 27.368 km long and has a total of 6 tunnels, with a combined left and right tube length of 12,232 meters. Among them are 3 long tunnels and 3 medium-long tunnels, and the bridge-tunnel ratio of the main line is 51.36%.

The Yujinshan Tunnel, which achieved double-tube breakthrough this time, is located in Hongtuping Village, Yuanguping Town, Yongding District, Zhangjiajie City. The tunnel is 936 meters long with a maximum burial depth of about 158 meters, and both the left and right portals adopt end-wall-type portal structures. The tunnel construction area features steep terrain, complex geology, high construction difficulty and high safety risks, and is far from nearby village roads with poor traffic conditions.

To ensure safe tunnel construction, the contractor adopted corresponding excavation guidance measures for different geological conditions, ensuring structural construction quality and improving construction safety. For sections with poor geological conditions, the contractor used various auxiliary engineering measures such as advanced pre-reinforcement and arch lagging to ensure construction safety, while also improving the ventilation and disaster prevention and relief systems in the tunnel and formulating relevant emergency response plans.

The contractor continuously improved the quality management system by strengthening pre-shift technical briefings, enhancing construction process management, focusing on procedure management, strictly implementing the first-piece system and the three-inspection system, intensifying patrol and on-site supervision, conducting timely sampling and spot checks, strengthening quality supervision, and closely monitoring every construction procedure to ensure that the tunnel's construction quality and safety meet specification requirements.

The full breakthrough of this tunnel has accumulated construction experience for subsequent tunnel construction. As an important component of the G59 Hohhot–Beihai Expressway in the National Highway Network Plan (2013–2030) and also an important component of the sixth vertical line of Hunan Province's "seven vertical and seven horizontal" expressway network, the Zhangjiajie–Guanzhuang Expressway is a key livelihood project and popular project of common concern to the people of Zhangjiajie and Huaihua. The implementation and construction of this project are of great significance for accelerating the full completion of the G59 Hohhot–Beihai Expressway, improving the regional expressway network, enhancing transportation efficiency in northwestern Hunan, and promoting social and economic development in the Wuling Mountain area. Once completed, the project will promote further connectivity between Huaihua and Zhangjiajie, stimulate the vitality of tourism development in both cities, and become a "livelihood road" and "road to prosperity" linking the pearls of northwestern Hunan.
