Recently, the Urban Construction Department of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development summoned 3 provinces and 8 cities and counties for talks regarding urban water supply safety and security.

The talks pointed out that urban water supply concerns the health of the people and social stability. The summoned cities and counties must attach great importance to the existing problems, implement the primary responsibility for water supply safety, strictly follow the requirements of the Provisions on the Administration of Urban Water Supply Quality, carefully analyze the causes, promptly take measures, complete rectification within a specified time limit, and ensure safe water supply for the people's production and daily life.

At the meeting, the principal responsible officials of the summoned city and county people's governments all made statements, expressing sincere acceptance of the talks, acknowledging the problems, drawing inferences from one case to another, improving mechanisms, and resolutely safeguarding the quality and safety of urban water supply.
