Recently, the pre-station Section 2 project (within Shaanxi Province) of the newly built Xi'an–Chongqing High-Speed Railway's Xi'an–Ankang segment (hereinafter referred to as the Kangyu High-Speed Railway Section 2 project) has once again made major progress. The top-heading construction of the inclined shaft of Zuoyashan Tunnel was completed ahead of schedule according to the milestone, and smoothly transitioned to main tunnel excavation, creating favorable working faces for large-scale machinery operations. The successful completion of this important milestone marks that the construction of the Kangyu High-Speed Railway Section 2 project has entered a new stage.

The Kangyu High-Speed Railway Section 2 project is located in Langao County, Ankang City, with a total line length of 23.3 km and a design speed of 350 km/h. The Zuoyashan Tunnel, with a total length of 7,421 meters, is the controlling project of the Kangyu High-Speed Railway Section 2 project with the most complex geological structure and the greatest construction difficulty. Tunneling through the Zuoyashan Tunnel is like navigating a geological maze.

To ensure construction safety, the project is equipped with two variable-frequency ventilation fans for each tunnel. The air ducts inside the tunnel advance along with the tunnel face, ensuring that the air duct is no more than 15 meters from the tunnel face, thereby effectively safeguarding air quality and work safety inside the tunnel.

To achieve efficient management, the project takes "standardization" as its cornerstone, appoints full-time information management personnel, and assigns information duty officers at each tunnel portal. An information duty room is set up at each tunnel portal, equipped with personnel gates, machinery gates, LED display screens, safety monitoring systems, sound and light alarm and loudspeaker systems, etc., to carry out comprehensive management of personnel entering and exiting the tunnel and safe construction inside and outside the tunnel, especially for "gas tunnels." The tunnel portals are equipped with the "Nine Signboards and One Chart," which reveal the construction overview inside the tunnel in real time and guide on-site construction.

According to reports, the project department has implemented the "Five Modernizations" management requirements (i.e., informatization, intelligentization, prefabrication, energy conservation, and environmental protection), set up an intelligent steel structure plant, and equipped it with a fully automatic steel mesh production line, a section steel arch production line, and a fully automatic small conduit production line. The application of intelligent numerical control systems, on the basis of improving the quantity and quality of finished products, has greatly saved labor costs. At the same time, it has also achieved digital management from raw materials to finished products.
