The Yanta Branch of the Xi'an Public Security Bureau issued a police notice on its official Weibo on the 23rd, stating that recently, rumors spread online that "a netizen was overcharged while dining at a restaurant; the owner not only refused to apologize but also pushed people, and threatened those who tried to intervene with a knife." The Changyanbao Police Station of the bureau has received the report and launched an investigation.

Investigation found that at around 23:00 on May 22, 2024, when Shi and others finished their meal and went to pay, they found that a dish worth 40 yuan on the bill had not been served. The restaurant waiter corrected the bill and offered complimentary drinks, but Shi and the others did not accept the apology, and the two sides got into a dispute. Subsequently, store manager Ma arrived at the scene and verbally abused and shoved Shi and the others.

After reviewing the in-store video and conducting on-site interviews, no evidence was found that Ma had held a knife. In accordance with the relevant provisions of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Penalties for Administration of Public Security, the bureau imposed administrative detention and a fine on Ma.
