On May 8, on the east bank of the Xiangjiang River in the Changsha southern integrated urban area, at the construction site of the east approach bridge of the Muping Xiangjiang Grand Bridge, as new precast box girders were erected on the bearings, more than half of the box girder production and erection work had been completed; on the west bank of the Xiangjiang River, the west approach bridge project of the bridge also made new progress, with all precast box girders erected.

This transportation project, which promotes the development of the Chang-Zhu-Tan metropolitan area, is expected to complete the construction of its main structure by the end of the year. The newly built South Xinshao Mountain Road has also entered its final stage and is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in June this year. At the same time, integrated urban area trunk roads such as the Baiyun Road East Extension are under accelerated construction. These transportation projects will further shorten the "time and space distance" of Chang-Zhu-Tan.

　　Box girder production and erection on the east approach bridge more than half completed; erection on the west approach bridge completed

At around 2 p.m. on the 8th, at the Muping Xiangjiang Grand Bridge project, the superstructure of the main bridge under construction had initially taken on the appearance of "wings spreading over the river." The main bridge is the first double-flying-swallow steel truss tied-arch bridge in the national highway transportation system.

At the construction site of the east approach bridge project of the Muping Xiangjiang Grand Bridge on the east bank of the Xiangjiang River, a precast concrete box girder weighing more than 90 tons was lifted, transported to the corresponding position, and then erected onto the pier bearings.

If the deck of the east approach bridge is a large 28-meter-wide building block, then the more than 2-meter-wide box girders are the small building block components; every 10 box girders assembled side by side form the 28-meter-wide bridge deck.

"At present, we can erect 10 box girders every 3 days," introduced Wu Shuai, Executive Deputy Manager of the east approach bridge project of the Muping Xiangjiang Grand Bridge under CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd. The box girders are 30 meters long, and one row is erected every 3 days, which means the bridge deck of the project is "growing" at a rate of 10 meters per day. The east approach bridge project has a total length of 1.88 kilometers; currently, more than half of the box girder production and erection work has been completed.

The west approach bridge on the opposite bank of the Xiangjiang River has a total length of 696 meters. On May 6, the bridge erection machine placed the last precast box girder on the bearings, completing all box girder erection work for the west approach bridge and laying a solid foundation for the approach bridge to meet the conditions for opening to traffic.

It is reported that the east-bank starting point of the Muping Xiangjiang Grand Bridge is located about 800 meters west of the intersection of Wanjiiali Road and Zhongyi Road, and the west-bank endpoint is located about 768 meters east of Pingtang Avenue, with a total length of 3.952 kilometers. It is not only a direct and fast channel connecting the Changsha southern integrated urban area and the Dawangshan area, but also a key project promoting the integrated development of Chang-Zhu-Tan.
