According to a message from the Beijing Shunyi WeChat public account, the north bridge of the Niulanshan Aqueduct on Changjin Road over the Chaobai River has officially been retired after 45 years of service. During construction, the south bridge remains open to traffic.

The Niulanshan Aqueduct on Changjin Road has entered the demolition phase for the dangerous bridge after completion of the water pipeline removal. At the construction site of the Niulanshan Aqueduct dangerous bridge renovation project, reporters saw more than 10 excavators and fog cannon machines working in coordination to break up the concrete bridge body of the north bridge, with more than 20 management personnel on site directing traffic and maintaining a cordon.

The Niulanshan Aqueduct dangerous bridge renovation project involves two bridges, the south and north bridges. The project will demolish the north bridge and build a new one on the original site. The new north bridge will be 700 meters long and 15 meters wide, with a design speed of 60 km/h, featuring one-way dual lanes plus a non-motorized vehicle lane, and a road classification of Class I highway.

On-site cleanup of the old north bridge area is currently underway. Next, the Shunyi Highway Sub-bureau will use the limited time before the flood season to complete the pile foundation construction for the new bridge, and after the flood season ends, will continue with the construction of the bridge's substructure. The new north bridge is expected to be completed in the second half of 2025, and the overall dangerous bridge renovation project is expected to be completed before the end of 2025.
