With the smooth completion of pouring for the final cast-in-place girder, the Ertiangou and Hanjiang Avenue Crossing Bridge in the Hubei section of the Xi'an–Shiyan High-Speed Railway has now been fully closed, laying a solid foundation for the line to open to traffic on schedule.
The Xi'an–Shiyan High-Speed Railway is an important component of the Fuzhou–Yinchuan High-Speed Railway and the Wuhan–Xi'an High-Speed Railway. The newly built main line has a total length of 255.76 kilometers, including 86.36 kilometers within Hubei Province and 169.4 kilometers within Shaanxi Province, with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. Among these, the Ertiangou and Hanjiang Avenue Crossing Grand Bridge is a single large bridge formed by combining two bridges: the Hanjiang Avenue Crossing Bridge and the Ertiangou Bridge.
According to the relevant person in charge of the contractor, China Railway 11th Bureau Group, the Ertiangou and Hanjiang Avenue Crossing Bridge spans the busy Shiyan Avenue, involving a long construction period, heavy traffic pressure, and high safety risk and ecological and environmental protection requirements. Since construction began in June 2021, the project department has planned ahead and continuously optimized the construction organization. The bridge's continuous girders were constructed using cantilever casting, and the simply supported box girders using the mobile formwork cast-in-place method, among other methods, and various environmental protection measures were adopted to centrally collect and treat wastewater and waste residue. The continuous girder section crossing Shiyan Avenue was the first on the entire line to be closed, in the early hours of April 14, 2023.

The Ertiangou and Hanjiang Avenue Crossing Bridge spans Shiyan Avenue and a mountain hollow, with a high mountain slope in the middle. The segment closed this time is the sixth span, a 24-meter simply supported box girder, whose girder body "brushes past" the high slope. The bridge was originally designed as two separate bridges, with the middle mountain section originally designed as a subgrade. To prevent foundation settlement or landslides, the owner, designer, and contractor optimized the construction plan, changing the subgrade to bridge construction, adding two bridge spans, and adopting seven-level slope protection for the mountain above the railway.
The segment closed this time is the last span of box girder of the bridge, using C50 concrete with a volume of 246.5 cubic meters. To ensure project quality and safety, all project personnel firmly established the management philosophy of "using tooling to ensure workmanship, and workmanship to ensure quality." Based on the on-site terrain, the construction plan was optimized and adjusted, and new processes and new tooling such as an intelligent tensioning system, corrugated pipe positioning fixtures, and catenary positioning tooling were adopted during construction.
After the Xi'an–Shiyan High-Speed Railway is completed and opened to traffic, travel from Shiyan to Xi'an will be achieved within 1 hour, and travel from Wuhan to Xi'an will be achieved in about 2 hours.
