On May 8, the centralized launch event for Shenzhen's newly started projects in the second quarter of 2024 was held, including a total of 236 newly started projects such as Phase I of Urban Rail Transit Line 19, with a total investment of approximately 176.65 billion yuan. This also marks the official opening of the "three-subway" era eagerly awaited by Pingshan residents.
It is reported that according to the previously publicized "Shenzhen Urban Rail Transit Line 19 Traffic Detailed Plan (Nantangwei to Julong Section)" (draft), Rail Transit Line 19 is a conventional-speed line in eastern Shenzhen, mainly undertaking the function of internal traffic connections within the Longgang-Pingshan cluster. The line starts at Silian, enters Pingshan via Biling, and ends at Shatian North, passing through two administrative districts, Longgang and Pingshan, connecting areas such as Henggang, Biling, Pingshan Central District, Julong, Pingshan High-tech Zone, and Kengzi, and interfacing and transferring with multiple lines of the rail network.
The Phase I project of Urban Rail Transit Line 19 launched in this centralized event is entirely located in Pingshan District, with a total length of 12.5 kilometers, and the entire line is laid underground. Phase I of Line 19 is planned to have 12 stations, including Nantangwei, Pingshan People's Hospital, Tangkeng, Jinlong, Xinwei, Baoshan, Xinhe, Pingshan Theater, Pingshan Center, Yanziling, Nanbu, and Julong. The line interfaces and transfers with multiple lines of the rail network, with a total of 4 transfer stations, among which Jinlong Station and Pingshan Center Station both transfer with Line 14, Xinhe Station transfers with Line 16, and Julong Station transfers with the Shenzhen-Daya Bay Intercity Railway. The total investment of the Phase I project is approximately 13 billion yuan, with a planned construction period of 2024-2028.
In 2022, Shenzhen Metro Lines 14 and 16 opened successively, and it takes only 55 minutes from Pingshan District to Futian Central District, greatly shortening the travel time for Pingshan residents to and from the city center. The commencement of the Phase I project of Metro Line 19 will further improve Pingshan's internal transportation network, while strengthening the connection between Pingshan and the Longgang urban cluster center, supporting high-quality urban construction.
"From the perspective of line siting, the three metro lines will connect Pingshan's industrial development axis and key development areas, greatly enhancing the district's attractiveness and pulling power." It is introduced that with the continuous improvement of the transportation network, Pingshan will surely usher in more rapid development and become a new engine for Shenzhen to forge the real economy.
