During the "May Day" holiday, "hot scenes" could be seen everywhere at project construction sites across Qinghai Province, as builders stuck to their posts, turning the "holiday" into a "construction period" and pushing the project construction "progress bar" to the max.

Pile drivers rising and falling, welding sparks flashing, concrete being poured, rebar being tied, crane booms extending, vehicles shuttling back and forth... The Yangqu Hydropower Station site was a hive of activity. Five work faces—the Yangqu Hydropower Station dam project, water diversion system, ecological water release tunnel, fish lift system, and landslide body—were under simultaneous construction by the Yangqu Engineering Construction Bureau of Sinohydro Bureau 4 Co., Ltd., presenting a bustling scene.

The Yangqu Hydropower Station is the lowest of the three planned cascade hydropower stations—"Ciha Hydropower Station, Banduo Hydropower Station, and Yangqu Hydropower Station"—on the upstream reach of the Yellow River main stream above the Longyangxia Hydropower Station. With a total installed capacity of 1.2 million kilowatts, it is an important supporting power source for the ten-million-kilowatt new energy base in Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and a key hydropower project under development and construction in Qinghai Province.

As night fell, under bright lights in the temporary ecological water release tunnel, dozens of construction workers were still moving across the open steel rebar, rebar in hand—now bending down with welding sparks flying, now striding forward with crisp sounds... More than ten minutes later, dozens of square meters of rebar base slab were laid out neatly and uniformly before everyone.

"The construction bureau has closely focused on the overall project goal, overcome many difficulties such as a tight schedule, limited personnel, and heavy tasks, coordinated resources from all parties, and seized the construction period while ensuring quality and safety. We have continuously optimized construction measures and repeatedly refreshed the construction 'progress bar,' successively completing milestones including the first concrete pouring of the face slab of China's first concrete-faced rockfill dam with an embedded concrete face, the full smooth breakthrough of the temporary ecological water release tunnel, and the completion of all pouring for the fish lift fishway tunnel," said Wang Jianzhong, Director of the Yangqu Engineering Construction Bureau.

"We must be careful and meticulous when inspecting equipment to ensure worry-free power supply during the May Day holiday." During the May Day period, to ensure uninterrupted progress toward the first unit's power generation at the Maerdang Hydropower Station, the 750 kV Yunshan Substation of the Maerdang Hydropower Station implemented a 24-hour duty system to ensure the safe and stable operation of the substation.

"During the holiday, we strengthened our awareness of patrol inspections, intensified the scope and frequency of inspections of the main transformer area, distribution room, secondary equipment room, cable interlayer, and other areas, promptly reported and eliminated equipment defects found during inspections, and, in light of current unit operating conditions, prepared contingency plans in advance to promptly detect and handle equipment defects and improve unit operating reliability," said Yin Jianzheng, Deputy Director of the Operation and Maintenance Department of Maerdang Company.

At the site of the multi-metal resource comprehensive recycling and environmental upgrade project of Qinghai Xiyu Nonferrous Metals Co., Ltd. in Golmud City, Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, machinery roared and tower cranes stood in clusters as workers carried out rebar tying, welding, and other operations in a tense and orderly manner. All construction units organized their workers in an orderly way to seize favorable opportunities and complete the tasks at each construction node, interpreting the beauty of labor through practical action.

At present, all civil construction of the project has entered the closing stage. The batching, pelletizing, pulverized coal, electrolysis, and finished product workshops have all been enclosed, and equipment installation has been completed. The steel structure and main equipment of the smelting workshop have been installed. In each area, the laying of electrical instrument lines and water, steam, and other medium pipelines as well as the construction of plant roads are being carried out in an orderly manner, laying a solid foundation for smooth trial operation on June 30, 2024.

"To complete the construction tasks with guaranteed quality and quantity, the project department has fully leveraged the advantage of long days and short nights in the Golmud area, readjusted construction work and rest schedules, held daily coordination meetings to comprehensively summarize the day's work completion and assign the next day's construction tasks, and actively coordinated and resolved difficulties and problems existing in the project construction process of each construction unit, promoting project construction progress with high quality and efficiency," said Shi Yunzhang, Party Secretary and Chairman of Qinghai Xiyu Nonferrous Metals Co., Ltd.

This project is an important practice of Western Mining in unswervingly following the path of green, low-carbon, and circular development. After completion, its process technology will reach the international advanced level, and its energy efficiency will be better than the domestic first-class level. It will effectively promote the construction of the regional dual-circulation economic system, ensure the maximum comprehensive utilization of regional resources, and achieve green, circular, and low-carbon development.

Walking into the construction site of the reconstruction and expansion project of Xining No. 7 Middle School, one can see a vigorous scene of intense work. The sounds of wheels, welding, cutting, machinery, and roaring... never cease. More than 10 pieces (sets) of equipment and machinery have been put into operation, jointly playing a stirring "Symphony of Struggle at the No. 7 Middle School Construction Site."

To fully advance progress, all project department personnel stayed at their posts without stopping during the May Day holiday, strictly controlling quality without slackening, and ensuring project quality and construction progress. More than 110 builders fulfilled the task of "completing the main works of Comprehensive Teaching Buildings No. 1, 2, 4, and 5 and the underground garage within the year" with a striving attitude, interpreting "labor is most beautiful" through practical action and running out the "acceleration" of project construction at full power.

"The reconstruction and expansion project of Xining No. 7 Middle School is a key project in Qinghai Province, with a total construction area of 43,000 square meters. It mainly involves the construction of teaching buildings, a comprehensive teaching building, a library, a cultural and sports center, and related ancillary facilities. After completion, it can accommodate 60 teaching classes and 3,000 students. The reconstruction and expansion project department of Xining No. 7 Middle School of Sinohydro Bureau 4 Co., Ltd. will coordinate various resources, scientifically arrange construction procedures, and fully guarantee the project construction progress, contributing the strength of 'Bureau 4' to further expanding the city's high-quality compulsory education resources and boosting the high-quality and balanced development of education in Xining," introduced Bu Pengzhen, Deputy Project Manager of the project.

In this season full of vitality and energy, the construction of the Qinghai Lake Tourist Highway (Phase I) project has also ushered in the golden construction season. At the construction site, water sprinkler trucks shuttle back and forth along the road, various construction machines and transport vehicles operate at full speed, and on-site construction is tense, orderly, safe, and controllable.

The more we pursue progress, the more we must pay attention to quality and safety. To accelerate the construction progress of the Qinghai Lake project, the project office, in light of the project's actual conditions, focused on solving bottleneck problems, further optimized construction organization, strengthened supervision and management, re-inspected and re-sorted the remaining work quantity, dynamically adjusted the construction plan, fully tapped the advantages of the EPC consortium, strengthened resource allocation and on-site management, and reasonably accelerated construction progress. Since the resumption of work this year, the Qinghai Lake project has invested a total of 406 pieces of machinery and equipment (including transport vehicles), 550 laborers, and 102 management personnel, completing 92.33% of the subgrade works, 39.77% of the pavement works, and 93% of the culvert works for the K0+000-K50+000 section.

During the May Day holiday, one can feel the new momentum of project construction. Builders worked overtime to seize the construction period, driving project construction to run at "acceleration" and composing the "Song of Strivers" with diligence and sweat.
