Just after the Spring Festival, construction sites of key projects across Shenzhen are already bustling with activity. Since the beginning of this year, a number of high-profile livelihood facility projects in Shenzhen have successively reached important milestones, further laying a solid foundation for enhancing urban functional quality and better meeting citizens' work and living needs.

　　Recently, at the construction site of the Shenzhen Conservatory of Music, large machinery such as tower cranes was busy nonstop, engineering vehicles shuttled back and forth, and rebar tying and concrete pouring proceeded rapidly, with builders full of vigor.

　　The Shenzhen Conservatory of Music is located at the intersection of Yanlong Avenue and International University Park Road in Longgang District. Relying on the successful educational experience of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) and drawing on the advanced educational philosophies of first-class institutions at home and abroad, it will be built into an internationalized, innovative, world-class higher music and arts institution to meet the demand of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area for high-end music and arts talent. At present, Buildings 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 of the project have been successfully topped out.

　　The Phase II project of the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital in Futian District has updated its construction progress——with the completion of the final floor slab pouring, the main structure of the project has been fully constructed, marking phased progress in the construction. Through the Phase II construction, the hospital's total number of beds will reach 3,000, and it will strive to become a pioneering demonstration model for public hospital reform and an international platform for medical integration in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

　　The main structure of the research building construction project at the Xili Campus of Shenzhen University has been topped out, marking that the project has moved to a new stage. The project is mainly used for laboratory rooms and teaching and research offices of the College of Materials Science and Engineering, the College of Chemistry and Environmental Engineering, the College of Life Sciences and Oceanography, and the Medical Department of Shenzhen University. Once completed, it will effectively enhance the level of hardware support for the university's development and help promote the transformation of major scientific research achievements.

　　Not long ago, construction started on the Shenzhen Opera House, one of the "major cultural facilities of the new era," meaning that this new landmark of Shenzhen arts and culture has officially entered the construction phase, demonstrating Shenzhen's firm confidence in accelerating the development of public cultural services, building higher-quality urban cultural spaces, and creating a more diverse supply of public culture.

　　Also starting construction in the same period is the Shenshan Campus of Shenzhen Polytechnic University. This project, with the planning and design concept of "nestled by water and mountains, like a jade pearl in a ring," is the ** undergraduate university in the Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone. In the future, it will help advance the high-quality development of education in Shenzhen and provide technical and talent support for accelerating industrial development in the Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone.

　　The upgrading and renovation project of the Bijiashan Training Base of the Shenzhen Sports Work Team in Futian District has been successfully completed, effectively solving problems such as outdated and aging training venues and supporting facilities, improving the overall environmental quality of the training base, and providing better and more comfortable training conditions for Shenzhen athletes and citizens, thus helping Shenzhen's sports undertakings achieve better development.

　　According to the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Public Works, in 2023 the bureau completed a total investment of 31.758 billion yuan. This year it will make every effort to promote the commencement of 14 projects, including the Shenshan Meteorological Observation Base, accelerate the construction of 72 continuing projects such as the municipal transportation infrastructure in the Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base area, the new Huanggang Port, the Financial and Cultural Center, and the International Performing Arts Center, and fully ensure that 27 projects, including the Shenzhen Book City Bay Area City, the Youth Football Training Base, and Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology, are completed and delivered on schedule with high quality.

　　A relevant person in charge of the Municipal Bureau of Public Works introduced that next, in accordance with the city's relevant arrangements for advancing high-quality development, the bureau will firmly grasp the development direction of the modern construction industry and the key requirements of new industrialization, accelerate the digital and intelligent transformation of management and operations, increase the application of green and low-carbon technologies, and build premium projects better, faster, more economically and more safely, contributing to Shenzhen's efforts to build an economic center city with greater global influence and a modern international metropolis.
