Recently, good news of resuming work and reaching full production after the Spring Festival came from the Tianshan Shengli Tunnel of the G0711 Urumqi-Yuli Expressway. As of now, the tunnel's total excavation footage has successfully exceeded 16 kilometers, completing 72.4% of the overall main tunnel excavation task, laying a solid foundation for the implementation of the annual construction plan.

Xinjiang Urumqi-Yuli Tianshan Shengli Tunnel.
The G0711 Urumqi-Yuli Expressway is an important project promoting the construction of the transportation hub center in the core area of the "Belt and Road," crossing the Tianshan Mountains and connecting the northern and southern regions of Xinjiang. The "throat" project of the Urumqi-Yuli Expressway—the Tianshan Shengli Tunnel—has a total length of 22.13 kilometers and is the world's longest expressway tunnel. It is also a typical extra-long, extremely cold, and high-altitude highway tunnel among expressway projects under construction in China. The tunnel adopts a brand-new construction technique known as the "three tunnels + four shafts" method.
Since entering the site, the Civil Engineering Section 5 of the China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) Xinjiang Urumqi-Yuli Project has overcome difficulties such as harsh climate, numerous geological fault zones, short effective construction periods, and remote transportation, taking root in the Tianshan Mountains and working hard to continuously set and create new records in engineering construction.
In order to achieve the annual plan of completing the breakthrough of the pilot tunnel of the Tianshan Shengli Tunnel in late July this year and the breakthrough of the main tunnel around the end of December, and to ensure the overall goal of opening the entire Urumqi-Yuli Expressway to traffic by the end of 2025, all builders have vigorously pursued the "Three Earlies in Winter" and implemented the "Three Earlies in Spring," keeping key procedures working throughout the Spring Festival holiday, and have now achieved full resumption of work.
