Housing is a major matter of people's livelihood. Every year at the National Two Sessions, housing is a hotly discussed topic. At this year's National Two Sessions, what housing-related issues do people hope will receive attention?
On the eve of the National Two Sessions, the Social Survey Center of China Youth Daily, in collaboration with the survey website wenjuan.com, conducted a survey on expectations for the National Two Sessions, with 2,002 participants. The survey shows that on the housing issue, 51.5% of respondents hope for clear application standards and procedures for affordable rental housing. 88.7% of respondents said that when choosing a place to settle, they would give key consideration to local housing preferential policies, and the attitudes of respondents in first-tier cities, respondents with a bachelor's degree, and male respondents were relatively stronger.

Zhang Cheng graduated last year from a 985 university in a first-tier city. He met his girlfriend on campus, and they plan to marry within the next two years. Zhang Cheng admitted that big cities offer more job opportunities and better development prospects, and he originally wanted to stay in the city where he studied. But considering that he would soon face the issue of buying a home, after weighing factors such as financial pressure and living standards, he and his girlfriend ultimately decided to settle in a second-tier city in the south.
"In recent years, the state's regulation of housing prices has been effective, and sharp rises are a thing of the past. But housing prices in big cities still deter many young people." Zhang Cheng particularly hopes that local governments can formulate more practical and effective preferential policies on housing to retain more talent, so that new urban young people can have a place to live and no longer worry about housing. "This not only allows young people to better develop their personal talents, but also makes cities more vibrant."
"At this year's local Two Sessions, many places made building a new model of real estate development a priority for government work this year. In the past two days, some members of the National Committee of the CPPCC also proposed a bill on implementing tiered tax and fee subsidies for multi-child families in housing transactions. I hope more attention will be paid to and solutions found for young people's housing problems." Zhou Ning, a single post-90s young person now working in Shenzhen, pays close attention to local housing policies. "Housing is a major issue that young people cannot avoid when it comes to dating and marriage. If I could enjoy strong housing preferential policies in a certain city, I would probably consider developing my career there."
When choosing a place to settle, would you give key consideration to local housing preferential policies? 88.7% of respondents said yes. Cross-analysis shows that respondents living in first-tier cities had the highest proportion, at 92.3%, followed by respondents in second-tier cities (89.7%); by education level, respondents with a bachelor's degree (91.2%) held the strongest attitude; and the proportion of male respondents (92.9%) was noticeably higher than that of female respondents (85.0%).
"I hope more and more people in difficulty can receive better housing security"
Ms. Fang from Sichuan is in poor health, needs to take medicine long-term and make frequent trips to the hospital, and has never had stable formal employment. Her living situation has also been "drifting from place to place." Whenever a lease was about to expire, she worried about rent, finding a place, and moving. It was not until last year, when she successfully applied for low-rent housing, that she finally had a stable residence and moved in after simple furnishing. "I no longer have to worry about housing. The monthly rent is now very low, and my quality of life has improved. I am especially grateful to the government, and I hope more and more people in difficulty can receive better housing security."
Zhou Ning also pays close attention to affordable rental housing, "There are many people who need help but have not yet obtained a quota." He hopes to increase the supply of affordable rental housing, strengthen qualification review, and improve management and supervision, verify the identity of occupants, and prohibit chaotic practices such as subletting to others.
Liu Yujia and her spouse are developing their careers in Beijing. This year they used all their savings to buy an "old, small, and run-down" home with a total price of 2 million yuan, and they are worrying about which repayment method to choose. "One option is a combined loan of housing provident fund loan and commercial loan, with the provident fund able to lend 800,000 yuan. But because the building is old, the loan term can only be 14 years. The other option is a commercial loan, which allows a longer term and reduces the average monthly repayment pressure, but the interest would be several hundred thousand yuan more than the first option." Liu Yujia hopes that the term requirements for provident fund loans can be appropriately relaxed, so that working-class people can enjoy more of the convenience of provident fund loans.
On better meeting the housing needs of young people and new urban residents, what issues do you hope the Two Sessions will focus on? 51.5% of respondents hope for clear application standards and procedures for affordable rental housing, 45.9% of respondents are concerned about strengthening "equal rights for renters and buyers" to protect the rights and interests of renters, 44.6% of respondents value the provision of transitional short-term rental housing, 44.0% of respondents hope to increase the construction and supply of affordable rental housing, 43.4% of respondents hope to improve supervision of rental platforms and online transaction platforms, 38.6% of respondents hope to advance shared-ownership housing and provide more housing choices, and 35.7% of respondents hope to popularize affordable and livable youth apartments.
Labor rights protection bills and proposals are what respondents most look forward to
