On the 23rd, with the final blasting operation at the tunnel face, the Yaowangtang Tunnel of the Xi'an–Ankang High-Speed Railway was successfully holed through, marking new progress in the tunnel construction of the Xikang Section 3 project undertaken by China Railway Seventh Group and achieving a New Year "good start."
The Yaowangtang Tunnel of the Xi'an–Ankang High-Speed Railway is located in Zhashui County, Shangluo City, Shaanxi Province. It is a single-tube double-track tunnel with a designed total length of 3,948.4 meters and a maximum burial depth of 440 meters. The section where the Yaowangtang Tunnel is located has complex geological conditions and highly undulating terrain, with relatively fractured and poorly stable surrounding rock. It also passes through a water-rich zone, and significant water and mud inrush occurred during construction, with a maximum daily water inflow of about 12,000 cubic meters.

According to reports, in order to overcome unfavorable factors such as shallow cover, water and mud inrush, and reverse-slope drainage, under the guidance of the Xikang Command of Shaanxi Company of the Xi'an–Chengdu Railway Passenger Dedicated Line, the Xikang Section 3 project of China Railway Seventh Group actively coordinated with the design and supervision units. By convening expert review meetings to treat water and mud inrush and optimize the reverse-slope drainage scheme, it strengthened organization, coordination, and resource allocation, consolidated standardized management of high-speed railway construction, reinforced safety and quality management, and strictly grasped process control. Centering on controlling overbreak and underbreak and safety step distance, and focusing on excavation quality, process cycle, and concrete overconsumption rectification, it strictly implemented the grid-based safety and quality management system, strengthened division of labor, assigned responsibilities to individuals, and ensured the smooth holing-through of the tunnel.
The Xi'an–Ankang High-Speed Railway is an important component of the Baotou (Yinchuan)–Haikou corridor and the Beijing–Kunming corridor among the "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway corridors in the national medium- and long-term railway network plan. After completion and opening to traffic, the railway travel time from Xi'an to Ankang will be shortened from the current approximately 3 hours to less than 1 hour, which is of great significance for supporting rural revitalization in the Qinba Mountain area of southern Shaanxi and promoting local economic development.
