On February 22, amid a roar of machinery, the cutterhead of the "CREC 699" shield machine slowly broke through the wall, and the shield-driven section of the Italian CEPAV railway project was fully holed through, marking the successful completion of the tunneling task by China's first shield machine exported to Italy.

The Italian CEPAV project is located in northern Italy and is a high-speed railway connecting Milan to Verona. The project comprises two tunneling sections, with a total tunnel length of approximately 9.6 kilometers. The "CREC 699" shield machine has an excavation diameter of 10.03 meters, a total length of about 155 meters, and a total weight of approximately 1,800 tons. The designer team equipped it with a series of advanced technologies, effectively ensuring construction safety and further improving tunneling efficiency. During tunneling, the equipment achieved outstanding results of a maximum daily advance of 38 meters and a maximum monthly advance of 704 meters.

Since launch, the technical service team of China Railway Engineering Equipment Group (CREG) has stayed at its post, overcome difficulties, and worked closely with the client to overcome numerous challenges such as split launching in a small space and secondary integral launching, helping the client solve various problems encountered during construction and earning the client's recognition and praise for Chinese shield machines, further enhancing the comprehensive strength and brand influence of Chinese manufacturing and Chinese solutions in the international high-end TBM market.
