According to the website of the Ministry of Emergency Management, on February 20, the Office of the National Forest and Grassland Fire Prevention and Control Command held a video scheduling meeting, connecting via video with Beijing, Hebei, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan and other provinces to analyze the current forest and grassland fire prevention and extinguishing situation and focus on deploying recent fire prevention and control work.
The meeting noted that recently, the number of hot spots in some areas has increased significantly, and fires have occurred one after another. Some areas in Beijing, Hebei, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan have relatively high fire danger ratings, with parts of southern Sichuan and northern Yunnan reaching high fire danger levels, and the situation is becoming increasingly severe.
The meeting emphasized that forest fire prevention command offices at all levels should effectively play a leading and coordinating role, resolutely curb the trend of frequent fires, and solidly carry out forest and grassland fire prevention and control work. It is necessary to continuously tighten and consolidate the "four-party" responsibilities, take the initiative and seize the upper hand, draw inferences from one case to promote the sinking of work forces, the downward shift of support, and the moving forward of checkpoints. It is necessary to consolidate fire source control responsibilities at every level, strengthen the management of open-air fire use, strengthen the investigation and governance of hidden dangers, carry out fire prevention publicity and education in accordance with local conditions, and keep a close eye on key prevention areas. It is necessary to carry out precise monitoring and early warning, strengthen emergency duty, scientifically deploy forces, precisely formulate and improve various contingency plans at all levels, strengthen regular practical exercises, fully make preparations for fire fighting and rescue, and scientifically put out fires early, when they are small, and before they spread. It is necessary to adhere to the principle of people first and life first, rigidly implement professional command, strictly control fire scene management, scientifically formulate plans for the evacuation, relocation and resettlement of personnel, and resolutely hold the bottom line of safety.
At the meeting, Guizhou, Sichuan, Yunnan and Fujian delivered exchange speeches. Relevant responsible persons from the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, the National Fire and Rescue Administration, and the Northern and Southern Aviation Forest Fire Protection General Stations of the Ministry of Emergency Management attended the meeting.
