On February 20 local time, French President Emmanuel Macron met in Paris with visiting Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Wang Yi first conveyed President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings, noting that the two heads of state have established solid mutual trust and sincere friendship, which has guided the direction of bilateral strategic cooperation and also had an important positive impact on the world. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of China-France diplomatic relations, which is of great significance in building on the past and opening up the future. The two sides should take this as an opportunity to review the extraordinary journey the two countries have traveled, carry forward useful experience and successful practices, and jointly plan the next 60 years of China-France relations. We are ready to work with France to stay true to our original aspiration, maintain strategic resolve, deepen cooperation and open up the future.

Wang Yi said that China-France practical cooperation has brought important benefits to the two peoples. China is committed to high-quality development and high-level opening up, and will continue to open its market to countries around the world, including France. We hope France will also create a fair and just business environment for Chinese enterprises in France and provide positive, stable and long-term expectations.

Macron asked Wang Yi to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping and wished the Chinese people all the best in the Year of the Dragon. Macron fondly recalled his successful visit to China last year, and expressed his expectation to jointly prepare with China for this year's high-level exchanges. He expressed the hope that the two sides will take the China-France strategic dialogue as an opportunity to implement the important common understandings he reached with President Xi Jinping and further build a lasting and close France-China relationship. France has always pursued the one-China policy, and this position is clear and unambiguous. In the face of global challenges, France upholds strategic autonomy and is willing to strengthen strategic coordination with China to jointly safeguard peace and stability.

Wang Yi said that the current international situation is fraught with turbulence, hotspot issues are complex and difficult to resolve, world economic recovery is slow, and various challenges are coming one after another. China and France, both independent major countries, permanent members of the UN Security Council and important forces in a multipolar world, should strengthen strategic coordination, deepen strategic cooperation and make China-France contributions to promoting global peace and stability. China appreciates France's commitment to independence and autonomy, and hopes that France will continue to play a constructive role in the sound and steady development of China-EU relations, enhance mutual trust, promote convergence of interests and jointly serve as a force for stability in today's world.
