Construction of the Hulin–Changchun natural gas pipeline project started on the 26th. Once completed, it will be interconnected with the backbone natural gas pipeline network in Northeast China, optimizing the layout of the oil and gas pipeline network in Northeast China, adding 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas supply per year, and greatly enhancing the supply guarantee capacity of China's eastern energy corridor.
He Nanhua, deputy general manager of the Construction Project Management Company of PipeChina, said that the Hulin–Changchun natural gas pipeline project consists of one trunk line and eight branch lines, with a total length of 2,073 kilometers. The trunk line starts in Hulin, Heilongjiang, passes through 4 prefecture-level cities and 12 counties (districts) in the two provinces of Heilongjiang and Jilin, and ends in Changchun, Jilin, with a total length of 795 kilometers, a design pressure of 10 MPa, and a design annual gas transmission capacity of 10 billion cubic meters. After commissioning, it will further expand China's energy corridor.
"The minimum winter temperature in the areas along the pipeline is below minus 30 degrees Celsius, and the deepest seasonal frozen soil reaches 2.55 meters. The natural environment is harsh, the effective construction period is short, and construction is highly difficult. PipeChina has ensured the smooth implementation of winter construction in the severe cold region by scientifically calculating the pipeline burial depth and conducting dedicated studies on construction plans for pipeline welding, pipe trench excavation, frozen soil breaking, and pipe trench backfilling," He Nanhua said. The Hulin–Changchun natural gas pipeline has also optimized its routing, adopted technologies such as trenchless crossing, strictly limited the width of the work zone in environmentally sensitive areas and forest areas, reduced tree felling, restored the original landform in a timely manner, protected black soil to the greatest extent, and achieved green management and control.
The project will apply lengthened pipes on a large scale, substantially reducing the number of welds, shortening the pipeline installation cycle, and improving the efficiency and quality of fully automatic welding. At the same time, it will continue to deepen the construction of smart unmanned stations, promote the application of technologies such as on-site testing of station venting systems and automatic drone inspection systems, and advance the realization of fully digital handover, fully intelligent operation, full business coverage, and full life cycle management.
Since the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, PipeChina has built a total of more than 10,000 kilometers of new pipelines. The oil and gas pipeline network is extending at an accelerated pace. It is expected that the Turpan–Zhongwei section of the fourth West-East Gas Pipeline and the southern section of the China-Russia East Route will be successfully completed and put into operation this year, better safeguarding national energy security.
