Zhuzhou Institute of CSR announced on the 16th that its subsidiary Beijing CSR Times Locomotive and Rolling Stock Machinery Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CSR Beijing Times") successfully completed a cross-border acquisition. It signed an equity purchase and transfer agreement with Boramtec Bohr- & Rammtechnik Berlin GmbH (hereinafter referred to as "Boramtec") in Berlin, Germany, successfully acquiring a 55% controlling stake in German company E+M Drilling Technologies GmbH (hereinafter referred to as "E+M").
It is reported that this acquisition is CSR's third overseas acquisition after its 2008 acquisition of UK-based Dynex Semiconductor and its 2011 acquisition of Australia's Delkor, and is also its first overseas acquisition in a non-rail-transit field. It is of great strategic significance for CSR in optimizing its industrial structure and advancing its internationalization process. Seeing the news of CSR Beijing Times' overseas acquisition, the reporter of Foundation Engineering Network was greatly excited, deeply feeling that CSR Beijing Times' successful acquisition of German company E+M is highly targeted, of great significance, and embodies extraordinary strategic consideration.
Since its establishment in 2004, CSR Beijing Times has, relying on the strong scientific research strength of its parent company Zhuzhou Institute in railway locomotive control and AC drive systems, reached a new level every year. The company positions itself to provide major technical equipment for national economic construction such as railways and urban construction. Its main business includes the R&D, manufacturing, sales and service of construction machinery, railway freight car parts and petroleum machinery. Sales revenue has grown rapidly year by year. CSR Beijing Times Heavy Industry independently developed the NSR220 rotary drilling rig, and the project "Development of a Basic Platform for General Electro-Hydraulic Control Systems of Large Pile Engineering Machinery" achieved full-vehicle application. It has formed a domestically leading sustained innovation advantage in the field of complete pile machinery technology, and its products are widely used in various domestic and international infrastructure construction fields.
German company E+M is a long-established enterprise with nearly a century of history and enjoys a world reputation in the fields of drilling engineering and drilling machinery. The target of this acquisition by CSR Beijing Times is its machinery business assets. The business scope of the newly established company mainly covers the R&D and trial production, manufacturing, sales and service of UH series multifunctional truck-mounted drilling rigs and related businesses. The company's fully hydraulic truck-mounted drilling rigs with hook loads of 24 to 100 tons can be widely used in deep water wells, geothermal extraction, mine rescue, coalbed methane and shale gas extraction, which are exactly the areas CSR Beijing Times will focus on developing in the future. Using a world brand to strengthen and expand the industry it will develop in the future fully demonstrates the targeted nature and foresight of this acquisition by CSR Beijing Times.
According to expert estimates, with the intensification of global energy development, the truck-mounted drilling rig market will become a new highlight in the construction machinery field in the future. Authoritative data show that during the "12th Five-Year Plan" period, worldwide energy extraction will show a trend of diversification and high growth, and the extraction and utilization of oil and gas resources such as natural gas, coalbed methane and shale gas will enter a stage of rapid growth. At present, the fully hydraulic truck-mounted drilling rigs used in China for extracting unconventional natural gas basically all rely on imports. Therefore, developing professional drilling rigs suitable for China's shale gas exploration and development and with independent intellectual property rights is a difficult problem that must be overcome to realize China's new energy strategy.
Experts' predictions are also CSR Beijing Times' foresight. CSR Beijing Times' move truly deserves to be called one of great vision and grand strategy. It is believed that after acquiring German company E+M, CSR Beijing Times will soon be able to develop professional drilling rigs suitable for China's shale gas exploration and development and with independent intellectual property rights, thereby ending the history of China's reliance on imports for such machinery. This unique advantage, like adding wings to a tiger, will further boost CSR Beijing Times' independent innovation and international development, and play an extremely important role in realizing CSR Beijing Times' goal of "CSR Manufacturing, Equipping the World—Hearts Together, Winning the World."
