The 20th session of the “CABR Geotechnical Expert Forum”, co-hosted by the China Academy of Building Research and the Geotechnical Engineering Branch of the Architectural Society of China, was successfully held at the Geotechnical Institute of the China Academy of Building Research. This session of the expert forum was chaired by Deputy Secretary-General Gong Jianfei of the Geotechnical Engineering Branch of the Architectural Society of China, and the keynote speaker was Academician Zheng Yingren of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Academician Zheng is a renowned geotechnical engineering expert in China and has achieved fruitful results in fields such as underground engineering, slope engineering, surrounding rock mechanics of underground engineering, geotechnical plastic mechanics, geotechnical limit analysis methods, and regional soils.
Under the title “Application of the Finite Element Limit Analysis Method in Slopes”, Academician Zheng gave an excellent presentation on the wide application of the finite element limit analysis method in slope engineering as well as related research in foundations, underground engineering, tunnels, and other areas.
The report was richly illustrated with both text and images and covered a wide range of content. Through this high-level academic report, engineering and technical personnel gained a deeper understanding of the development, characteristics, and construction of geotechnical engineering, while also broadening their horizons and increasing their knowledge, fully embodying the theme of “learning, inheritance, development, and innovation”.
