According to reports, residential buildings, hospitals, schools, and large venues may in the future carry green building “rating labels,” with three-star being the highest standard. Reporters learned from the Anhui Green Building Evaluation Label briefing that Anhui's green building development will enter a phase of large-scale promotion this year, and green buildings may be incorporated into government assessment targets at all levels.

According to Liu Lan, Director of the Building Energy Efficiency and Science and Technology Division of the Anhui Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, government-invested public buildings such as Party and government offices, hospitals, and schools, as well as large public buildings with a single building area exceeding 20,000 square meters, such as airports, stations, and shopping malls, must all comply with green building standards. “All projects that are not designed according to the standards cannot pass the planning review stage.” To accelerate the promotion of the green residential concept, starting next year all affordable housing in Hefei (property listings) will fully implement green building standards, and solar water heaters, insulation materials, and other features will become “standard equipment.”
