The Tonghai Bridge in Haihu New District has recently been undergoing bridge construction. It is understood that the Tonghai Bridge is the city's first cable-stayed bridge and is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in June next year.

According to Feng Xiangqiang, deputy general manager of Xining Haihu Development and Construction Management Co., Ltd., the Tonghai Bridge in Xining's Haihu New District starts at Haiyan Road in Haihu New District and ends at Qaidam Road in Chengbei District, crossing the Huangshui River in the middle. With a total investment of 470 million yuan, the structure is a single-tower, single-cable-plane steel box girder cable-stayed bridge. The main span of the cable-stayed bridge is 245 meters long, and the main tower is 106 meters high. The approach bridge spanning the Qinghai-Tibet Railway is a reinforced concrete continuous box girder structure, forming a trumpet-shaped interchange with Qaidam Road. The bridge deck is 37 meters wide and has four lanes in both directions.

Since construction began in March 2011, after more than two years of intensive work, the bridge is expected to be completed in June next year. The construction of the bridge not only builds a comprehensive three-dimensional transportation network extending in all directions, but also makes it another landmark building in Haihu New District, greatly enhancing the city's overall image. Once opened to traffic, it will become the main hub connecting Haihu New District and Chengbei District, playing an important role in promoting economic development between the two areas.
