On January 19, the 2024 first-quarter Hubei Provincial Transportation Work "Good Start" and Wuhan-Ezhou-Huanggang-Huangshi Expressway System Construction Video Scheduling Meeting was held. In the first quarter, Hubei transportation investment aims to ensure completion of 40 billion yuan and strive for 50 billion yuan. Currently, various localities have declared 126 new transportation projects to start in the first quarter, with a total investment of 73.96 billion yuan. Hubei Vice Governor Sheng Yuechun attended the meeting and required that efforts be revved up to "charge forward" at full speed, strive to achieve a "good start" in investment in the first quarter of this year, and ensure that the Wuhan-Ezhou-Huanggang-Huangshi Expressway System is connected on schedule.

Sheng Yuechun emphasized that it is necessary to gather momentum and increase pressure, and achieve "deep planning, fast advancement, strict evaluation, solid results, and tight safety," focusing on investment priorities such as expressways, ordinary highways, water transport, and passenger and freight stations, to plan and reserve a batch of highway and waterway projects that lay the foundation, strengthen functions, and serve long-term development; it is necessary to accelerate project implementation, speed up preliminary work, urge and guide construction units to deploy more equipment and more personnel, and achieve "acceleration" in project construction; it is necessary to adhere to the "strict" tone, continue to make good use of the "Red Flag" and "Snail" project (unit) assessment and evaluation mechanism and the five-color map evaluation system for "Four Good Rural Roads," and create a working atmosphere of "racing to catch up and striving for excellence."

Sheng Yuechun required that it is necessary to anchor the goals and "charge forward" at full speed to ensure that the Wuhan-Ezhou-Huanggang-Huangshi Expressway System is connected on schedule; it is necessary to closely focus on the overall goal of "connection within one year and completion of node projects within a time limit," and according to the target list formulated by the 100-day sprint labor competition, seize time, catch up on progress, and promote the early realization of results for the Wuhan-Ezhou-Huanggang-Huangshi Expressway System.

In the first quarter, the Hubei Provincial Department of Transportation will accelerate the construction of 34 projects under construction, including the Wuhan-Hanchuan section of the Wuhan-Chongqing Expressway, speed up preliminary work on 34 projects including the Xiangyang section of the Xiangyang-Yichang Expressway, accelerate the advancement of 17 expressway reconstruction and expansion projects, and carry out the 100-day sprint labor competition themed "Build the New City, I Take the Lead, Celebrate the New Spring, Strive for Connection" across the entire Wuhan-Ezhou-Huanggang-Huangshi Expressway System.
