On January 22, the Fuyi Tunnel of the Xi'an-Yan'an High-Speed Railway was successfully holed through, providing strong support for the full completion and opening of the Xi'an-Yan'an high-speed railway project in October 2025.

The Fuyi Tunnel is located in Luochuan County, Yan'an City. Construction began in October 2021. With a total length of 3,760 meters, it is a single-tube, double-track tunnel with a maximum burial depth of approximately 140 m. The tunnel passes beneath a loess ridge and gully area, where the geological conditions along the route are complex and the terrain is highly undulating, generally high in the middle and low at both ends. The area is a strongly water-rich zone with poor hydrogeological conditions, and the surrounding rock through which the tunnel passes has poor stability. Multiple sections contain fault fracture zones, densely jointed zones, and lithological boundaries; the water-rich sections have long soil-rock interfaces, making construction difficult and safety risks extremely high.

After the Xi'an-Yan'an high-speed railway is completed and opened to traffic, the shortest train travel time from Xi'an to Yan'an will be shortened from the current 2.5 hours to about 1 hour, greatly facilitating travel for the people along the route and being of great significance for consolidating and expanding the achievements of poverty alleviation in the old revolutionary base areas and comprehensively advancing rural revitalization.
