The Shaowu Highway Sub-center organized the felling of hazardous trees along national and provincial trunk lines.

On January 21, the reporter learned from the Fujian Provincial Department of Transport that, in order to carry out preventive work against low-temperature, rain, snow and freezing disasters in advance, starting from the 20th, the Party Leadership Group of the Fujian Provincial Department of Transport moved swiftly to deploy resources, organizing and strengthening monitoring and dispatch of road network operations, assigning additional personnel for ice and snow removal to ensure traffic flow, traffic diversion and guidance, and emergency support, and making every effort to prevent the risk of emergencies caused by extreme weather. Transport departments in Fujian Province further tightened responsibilities, strengthened organizational leadership and duty shifts, implemented emergency response forces, strengthened road transport safety control, and further reinforced defense preparations and response. Keeping a close watch on key areas and key links such as passenger and freight transport, port production, and engineering construction, they mobilized and pre-positioned 1,876 transport emergency rescue team members, 524 pieces of specialized anti-icing equipment, and 546.05 tons of snow-melting agent, and put in place 2,833 vehicles of road transport emergency support capacity, so as to do a good job in advance in all aspects of preventing and combating low-temperature, rain, snow and freezing disasters and to bring safety and warmth to passing drivers and passengers.

On January 21, temperatures had dropped sharply along the Fenshuiguan section of National Highway 237 in Wuyishan, and the Yangzhuang Highway Station of the Wuyishan Highway Sub-center promptly pre-spread snow-melting agent to prevent road icing the following day. At the Shaowu Heping Maintenance Station, maintenance personnel carried out comprehensive inspection, servicing and trial operation of snow-removal machinery and equipment such as spreaders, snowplows and snow-removal roller brushes, and conducted a stock check of anti-icing and traffic-smoothness emergency supplies such as snow-melting agent, reflective cones, anti-slip mats and gunny bags. "At present, the maintenance station has completed the debugging of snow-removal equipment such as large snow-removal roller brushes and snow-melting agent elevators. Stocks of various anti-icing and snow-removal supplies are sufficient, with a total reserve of 10 tons of snow-melting agent, 102 ice shovels and flat shovels, 3,600 kilometers of anti-slip straw mats, 600 gunny bags, 10 bags of sawdust and various other emergency tools, ready at any time to respond to emergencies caused by cold wave weather," said Gong Guoyi, head of the Shaowu Heping Maintenance Station of the Nanping Expressway.

In addition, the Nanping Road Network Management Center of the Fujian Provincial Expressway uses its monitoring and management platform to monitor expressway surface conditions in real time, focusing on bridges, culverts, tunnels and other sections prone to icing, keeping abreast of road surface information in a timely manner, and releasing real-time traffic information to the public promptly through multiple channels such as variable message signs and text messages. In conjunction with the "Warm Journeys" public welfare activity caring for truck drivers, volunteers at expressway service areas provide free ginger tea, hot water and other convenient services to passing drivers and passengers. Toll stations have also stocked sufficient rice, flour, cooking oil, instant noodles, drinking water and other food, and opened rest rooms, meeting rooms and other spaces to prepare for and safeguard against possible driver and passenger strandings under cold wave weather.

"Toll stations strictly implement the 24-hour duty and on-call system, strengthen communication and coordination with expressway traffic police, administrative law enforcement and other departments to ensure timely information sharing, and improve emergency traffic-smoothness contingency plans and set up anti-icing and traffic-smoothness commando teams to ensure rapid response to emergencies," introduced Zeng Qiang, assistant to the director of the Jianyang Management Center of the Nanping Expressway.
