On January 18, as the cutterhead of the "Qijie Hao" shield machine broke through, the right line of the section from Fo'erya Station to Hechuan Road Station (hereinafter referred to as the Fo-He section) of the second phase of Qingdao Metro Line 2 was successfully completed. This is the **shield section successfully completed in the second phase of Line 2, and also the **shield section successfully completed in the third phase of Qingdao Metro since the new year.

As the pace-setter in the construction of the second phase of Qingdao Metro Line 2, the Fo-He section achieved "eight line-wide firsts": **traffic diversion, **enclosure structure construction, **excavation condition acceptance, **main structure construction, **completion of earthwork excavation, **shield tunneling, **station capping (Hechuan Road Station), and **shield breakthrough.

It is reported that the Fo-He section of the second phase of Qingdao Metro Line 2 completed this time has a total length of 960 meters. The longitudinal profiles of both the left and right lines are of a "straight" gradient, with a maximum gradient of 29.63‰. During construction, it was necessary to face a Class I risk source involving passing beneath the Houjiazhuang River and passing alongside the piers of the Jinshui Bridge, while also facing a series of difficulties such as frequent transitions between sand layers and stratum lithology, water and sand inrush, tilting and cracking of bridge piles, and difficulty in maintaining pressure at the tunnel face.

To ensure construction of the shield section, Qingdao Metro conducted a detailed investigation of the structural form of the Houjiazhuang River, the silt thickness, waterproofing measures at the riverbed, and surrounding seepage and leakage conditions, and fully communicated and planned in advance with the design unit, shield manufacturer, well-known domestic experts, and others, ultimately achieving safe tunneling.

It is reported that through intelligent management, the second phase of Qingdao Metro Line 2 optimizes work procedures and improves construction efficiency, and is expected to shorten the overall construction period by about one year. The use of intelligent construction and digital management reduces personnel input, improves equipment operating efficiency, and lowers material loss, and is expected to save more than 110 million yuan in the total cost of the line project.

The second phase of Qingdao Metro Line 2 has a total length of 8.9 kilometers and 8 stations from west to east. Once completed, the project will further promote the formation of Qingdao's rail transit backbone network and drive the development of eastern Licang and the Expo Park area.
