On January 17, at the construction site of the Maopu section in Dongkou County, Hunan Province along National Highway 320, a row of vehicles was neatly lined up, excavators raised their long arms ready for action, and the groundbreaking ceremony for the Dongkou Fourth Bridge (Pingxi River Bridge) and its connecting road project was being held.

The Dongkou Fourth Bridge and connecting road project connects to the National Highway 320 intersection in the north and Jufu Road in the Economic Development Zone in the south, with a total length of 1,395 meters and an estimated total investment of 263 million yuan. It is designed as a dual six-lane road, running through the entire Chengdong Avenue, intersecting with Xuefeng East Road, Fushui Road, Wenxiang Road, and Pingxi South Road in the urban area, and connecting the High-Speed Rail New City area with the Economic Development Zone.

In 2024, Dongkou County proposed to take "Urban and Rural Construction Year" as the overall guide to accelerate the construction of "Three Zones and One Center." Transportation construction is taking the lead as the "vanguard." As the first project to break ground this year, the project is planned with a 600-day construction period. Once completed, it will fundamentally solve the traffic congestion problem for vehicles traveling between the southern part of the county seat and surrounding counties (cities) to Dongkou High-Speed Rail Station, vigorously promote industry-city integration, and write an important chapter for the county's high-quality construction as a regional central county in southwestern Hunan.

Today's projects are tomorrow's productivity and competitiveness. In 2024, Dongkou County will firmly establish the concept of "projects as the king," adhere to taking project construction as the primary engine for driving economic growth, fully leverage the key role of investment, and use projects to drive the economy to "break through and stand out." In terms of transportation alone, the county will also vigorously advance the expansion of the G60 Shanghai-Kunming Expressway, the commencement of construction of the Xupu-to-Dongkou Expressway, carry out preliminary work for the Dongkou-to-Tianzhu Expressway, accelerate the construction of the Caoluo Highway, complete 55.1 kilometers of township roads upgraded to Class III standards, 25.1 kilometers of resource-industry roads, 104.6 kilometers of convenient connecting roads for merged and abolished villages, and renovate 11 dangerous bridges.
