On January 17, at Yucun South Road Station on Shijiazhuang Metro Line 4, in an underground construction site about 18 meters below ground, the huge cutterhead of the "Fuxing No. 1" shield machine rotated out with soil. Builders waved flags and cheered to celebrate the **single-line breakthrough of the Line 4** interval, which is also the **first single-line breakthrough of an interval tunnel in Shijiazhuang's Phase II rail transit project**.

Shijiazhuang's Phase II rail transit plan has a total length of 58.85 kilometers, mainly including the first phases of Lines 4, 5, and 6 and the Phase III project of Line 1, marking the first launch of "four lines under construction at the same time." At present, Line 4 has the fastest overall construction progress, with all 20 stations having entered construction, of which 18 stations have entered the main structure construction stage; the left-line interval from Shitong Road Station to Yucun South Road Station was successfully "broken through" after 112 days and nights of continuous tunneling, and the right-line shield is also tunneling and is expected to break through in March. By then, the interval will achieve dual-line breakthrough. Next, the "Fuxing No. 1" shield machine will be relocated to tunnel the interval from Shitong Road Station to Youyi South Street Station.

"The **single-line breakthrough of the interval** has accumulated valuable experience for adapting shield machine performance to geological conditions during construction," said Li Zhengyi, deputy general manager of the general contracting department of the Phase I project of Shijiazhuang Rail Transit Line 4 of China Communications Construction. Next, a surge of practical and fast civil construction work will be launched for Line 4, continuously improving on-site safety management and construction standardization, and completing all construction tasks safely, with high quality, in a civilized manner, and efficiently.
