Recently, the "Shenlong No. 8" shield machine for the section from Chezhan North Road Station to Guangzhou Road Station (hereinafter referred to as the "Che-Guang Section") of the civil construction Section 7 of Phase I of Tianjin Rail Transit Line B1 began hoisting, lowering into the shaft, and assembling as the first shield machine in the section, marking that the shield tunneling section has entered the substantive construction stage.

It is reported that the "Shenlong No. 8" shield machine undertakes the shield construction task of about 4,117 meters for the double-line Che-Guang Section. Its cutterhead diameter is 6.84 meters, total length about 84 meters, total weight about 500 tons, and maximum thrust 4,653 tons. It is an earth pressure balance shield machine, and its cutterhead adopts a spoke-type panel. The lowering and assembly work is planned to be completed in 20 days.

It is learned from the construction site that the shield section construction site is narrow and located in a confined-water sand layer. Along the route, it needs to pass through dense groups of buildings and structures and involves multiple existing underground pipelines. The geological environment is complex and the construction risk is high.

To ensure the smooth lowering of the shield machine, the project team deployed in advance and actively planned. It organized personnel from relevant units to conduct in-depth discussions on the selection of the shield machine based on specialized construction experience, and carried out targeted modifications according to the construction conditions and geological conditions of the tunneling section. At the same time, it carefully carried out the construction site layout and temporary facility construction, prepared and improved the construction organization plan and emergency plan, conducted plan disclosure and technical disclosure covering all personnel, organized safety education for all personnel, implemented construction risk control, and eliminated construction safety hazards. The project team also carried out overall planning according to the on-site construction environment, shield machine technical parameters, and hoisting risks, prepared the shield machine hoisting plan and organized expert demonstration, and successfully passed the pre-hoisting condition acceptance for the shield machine.

Next, the project team will actively seize the 30-day golden construction period before the Spring Festival to complete the assembly and commissioning of the equipment, making full preparations for the smooth subsequent launch of the shield.
