Currently, the Qingdao Metro Line 8 Branch Line is undergoing equipment commissioning, with the entire shield machine assembly completed 10 days ahead of schedule—cutting the planned construction period by a full half.

The Haitian section of Civil Engineering Work Area 03 on the Qingdao Metro Line 8 Branch Line is approximately 1.9 kilometers long, making it the longest shield-driven section in the main urban area of Jiaozhou City on the Line 8 Branch Line. It is located beneath the intersection of Yangzhou East Road and the North Central Axis Scenic Road in Jiaozhou City, laid out in an east-west direction along Yangzhou East Road. The station is 215 meters long in total and has four entrances, all situated in vacant land along the roadside.

To ensure the smooth entry and lowering of the shield machine for assembly, the project team planned ahead, actively coordinated with the shield manufacturer on transport vehicles, and assigned dedicated personnel to focus on surveying road traffic conditions in Jiaozhou's urban area, formulating the most suitable component transport routes and adopting a planned, batched transport approach for delivering the shield machine components to the site.

During the shield equipment assembly phase, given the tight site conditions, transport, storage, and lowering required full coordination and close cooperation. The project organized multiple construction scheme review meetings and technical evaluation meetings to refine the shield lowering and assembly plans in advance. Through meticulous deployment and strict control across construction site, personnel, materials, environment, risk assessment, and emergency plans, and by working backward from milestone targets to schedule construction strictly according to plan, the shield machine lowering and complete assembly were accomplished in a total of 9 days. Equipment commissioning is currently underway, with the entire shield machine assembly completed 10 days ahead of schedule—cutting the planned construction period by a full half.

The Qingdao Metro Line 8 Branch Line is the first rail transit line in Jiaozhou's core area and a key project advanced under Qingdao's three-year action plan for urban renewal and city development. It will bring Jiaozhou into Qingdao's rail transit network, integrate it into Qingdao's one-hour living circle, and achieve integrated urban development. Once completed, it will become the backbone transport mode from Jiaozhou's core area to Qingdao's central urban area, and is the largest-investment transportation livelihood project in Jiaozhou's history, benefiting the widest range of citizens.
