Recently, the review meeting for the "Feasibility Study Report for the New Construction Project of the Hezhuang–Chang'an Highway" was held. The Qian tang River crossing section of the Jiangdong Third Road River Crossing Channel passed the feasibility review, and a new cross-river bridge will be built over the Qiantang River!

The west end of this new bridge is the Yancang Development Zone in Haining City, and the east end is the Jiangdong area of Qiantang District in Hangzhou. It is a cross-city river crossing channel.

  A double-deck cross-river bridge!

Once completed, it will ease congestion during peak river-crossing hours

The Jiangdong Third Road River Crossing Channel is part of the Central Ring of the Hangzhou Metropolitan Area. It is located 2 kilometers downstream of the Jiangdong Bridge, starts from the Shanghai–Kunming Expressway in the west, crosses the Qiantang River in the form of a bridge toward the east, and ends at Jiangdong Third Road, with a total length of about 7.26 kilometers. The project is divided by Chunchao Road into two parts: the Xiasha North Interchange and Connecting Line Project of the Shanghai–Kunming Expressway and the New Construction Project of the Hezhuang–Chang'an Highway. The latter includes this cross-river bridge.

The bridge has a double-deck design. The upper deck is a roadway with eight lanes in both directions, and the lower deck is a roadway with six lanes in both directions plus a slow-traffic passage for pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles. Once completed, it will not only be another double-deck bridge over the Qiantang River, but also the second cross-river channel in Hangzhou with eight lanes in both directions after the New Pengbu Bridge. Residents driving across the river will have a more comfortable and smoother experience.

For the Qiantang section road at the east end of the bridge, both the upper and lower decks are designed with six lanes in both directions. The Haining section adopts a design of six lanes in both directions on the upper deck and four lanes in both directions on the lower deck.

Once the Jiangdong Third Road River Crossing Channel is completed, there will be another river crossing channel connecting both banks of the Qiantang River. It will divert some traffic from the existing river crossing channels, and congestion during peak river-crossing hours will also be alleviated to a certain extent.
