On the afternoon of January 7, a steel cofferdam weighing 1,050 tons was smoothly lifted by a floating crane into position at the Q5 main pier of the Qinglongmen Bridge, the world's longest-span three-tower steel box girder cable-stayed bridge. At 4:38 p.m., the over-1,000-ton steel cofferdam was finally precisely positioned and joined with 41 pile foundations, firmly rooted in the sea surface to shield against waves for the upcoming cap construction. This also marked the completion of lowering the steel cofferdams for all three main piers of the Qinglongmen Grand Bridge, signaling that the Qinglongmen Bridge has officially entered the offshore main pier cap construction stage.

The Qinglongmen Grand Bridge, part of the second phase of the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port Liuheng Highway Bridge project, is jointly constructed by China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group and China Railway Construction Port and Waterway Bureau. The Q5 main pier cap features an integral octagonal design and adopts a single-wall steel cofferdam construction scheme. The steel cofferdam is 67 meters long, 37.42 meters wide and 10 meters high, with a bottom area of about 2,523 square meters, equivalent to the size of six standard basketball courts, making it the largest single-wall steel cofferdam in terms of plan dimensions in China.

The Liuheng Highway Bridge is an important component of the Yiwu-Ningbo-Zhoushan Open Corridor in the province's expressway plan. It starts from Ganyan Village in the southwest of Liuheng Island, Zhoushan, passes through Fodu Island and Meishan Island, and ends at Chaiqiao in Beilun, Ningbo, connecting with the Hangzhou-Shaoxing-Ningbo Expressway and the Chuanshan Port Expressway. The project has two phases. Once both phases are completed and open to traffic, it will end the history of no expressway access for Meishan, Liuheng and Fodu. Among them, the Qinglongmen Grand Bridge is a key control project of the second phase of the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port Liuheng Bridge, with twin main spans of 756 meters, connecting Fodu Island in Zhoushan and Meishan Island in Ningbo. Upon completion, the project will play an important supporting role in the development of the islands along the route and the building of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port into a "world-class strong port," and will drive the integrated development of Ningbo and Zhoushan onto the "fast track" of high-quality development.
