Recently, Suzhou Street Station on Beijing Subway Line 16, constructed by China Railway 14th Bureau Group, was put into operation, allowing citizens to transfer to Subway Line 10 via this station. The opening of this station marks the full through-operation of the entire Beijing Subway Line 16.

Beijing Subway Line 16 is a north-south trunk line, running from Bei'anhe in the north to Wanpingcheng in the south, passing through three administrative districts—Fengtai, Xicheng, and Haidian. The line has a total length of 48.9 kilometers and 29 stations.

Suzhou Street Station on Beijing Subway Line 16, constructed by China Railway 14th Bureau Group, is located beneath the intersection of Suzhou Street and Rendabei Road (Haidian South Road), passing vertically underneath the main structure of the existing Line 10 station. It is the only transfer station on the entire line that closely underpasses an existing station.

To facilitate passenger transfers to Subway Line 10, four sets of "F"-shaped transfer passages were built at the four corners of the concourse level of Suzhou Street Station on Line 16. The shortest transfer passage is only 15 meters long, with an average transfer time of about 1 minute.

However, this is precisely where the difficulty lies. Carving out a subway station beneath an operating Line 10 station imposes extremely strict settlement control requirements and entails enormous construction risk.

To ensure the operational safety of the existing line, the construction team of China Railway 14th Bureau Group used 20 jacks with a capacity of 1,000 tons each. Under the unified command of a "central brain" control system, they "lifted up" the Line 10 station so that construction below could proceed normally, ultimately achieving an underpass with "zero settlement." This approach was adopted for the first time in domestic subway construction.

After the opening of Suzhou Street Station, it will effectively relieve traffic pressure in the Northwest Third Ring Road area, optimize the urban functional layout, and promote regional development and construction.
