Recently, in Lanjiabao Town, Shenmu City, Shaanxi Province, with the smooth breakthrough of the final tunnel section of about 11.6 kilometers, the Mazhen Water Diversion Project on the East Line of the Yellow River in Yulin, Shaanxi, achieved full breakthrough of all tunnels.

"The construction area of this section has low rock strength and severe weathering, posing certain difficulties for construction," introduced Zhang Genwang, project manager of the contractor China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Northwest Company. "Next, we will step up the secondary lining construction of the tunnels and simultaneously advance the construction of the aqueducts and spillway chutes, so as to complete the construction tasks safely and efficiently," Zhang Genwang said.

The Mazhen Water Diversion Project on the East Line of the Yellow River in Yulin is a major infrastructure construction project in Yulin City, officially approved for construction in 2019. The project's main and branch lines total 160.53 kilometers in length, with a designed water diversion scale of 290 million cubic meters and an annual intake of 220 million cubic meters from the Yellow River. Once completed and put into operation, the project will provide strategic support for Yulin to break the bottleneck of water resource shortage and build a world-class high-end energy and chemical industry base.

Winter is the "golden period" for water conservancy project construction. As the water conservancy project with the largest investment scale, the longest water conveyance line, and the largest water diversion volume in Yulin, relevant departments and the construction party have taken multiple measures to ensure the steady progress of construction. "At present, we are strictly following the project construction plan, adhering to the approach of working backward from the deadline and advancing according to the schedule, and striving to achieve the goal of water supply by the end of 2024," said Fan Shibin, chief engineer of Yulin Yellow River East Line Water Diversion Engineering Co., Ltd.
