On November 26, the shield tunneling machine for the right line of the section from Xibei Road to Songjiang Road of Phase I of Dalian Metro Line 4, constructed by the Jiangsu Branch of the Civil Engineering Company of China Construction Second Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as CSCEC 2nd Bureau), was successfully launched.

It is reported that the "Beyond No. 6" shield tunneling machine, remanufactured by the CSCEC 2nd Bureau Shield Base, was used this time. The tunneling section from Xibei Road to Songjiang Road is 1,304 meters long. The shield machine will pass underneath the Shenyang-Dalian Railway, Songjiang Road Station, Youyi Comprehensive Wholesale Market, the steel market, the Shenyang-Dalian Railway pedestrian overpass, and aviation fuel pipelines. The construction environment is complex, the tunneling risk is high, and there are many controlling factors.

To ensure the smooth launch of the shield machine, the project team invited experts multiple times to conduct on-site verification and review, continuously optimized and improved the plan, and initiated preparatory work such as housing relocation and traffic diversion. During the tunneling process, the project also achieved refined management of shield tunneling construction through advanced geological forecasting, dynamic monitoring, and optimization of tunneling parameters.

As the east-west trunk line in the northern part of the city, Dalian Metro Line 4 connects the two major functional zones of the Ecological Science and Technology City and Suoyu Bay, establishes a direct link between the two major functional zones, improves the rail transit service level of the two major functional zones, realizes transit-oriented urban development, and is of great significance for driving the development of key areas along the line.
