A global layout, a new chapter continues. On November 15, the "SANY South Africa Headquarters Base" project broke ground in Johannesburg, South Africa. Positioned as a regional manufacturing center, logistics center, and talent center, the project involves an investment of 300 million rand and is expected to be completed in one year, at which point it will be able to produce 1,000 excavators and other construction machinery equipment annually.

SANY has been conducting business in South Africa since 2005. In 2023, SANY South Africa's sales are expected to reach 800 million yuan. During its 18 years in the South African market, SANY has participated in the construction of almost all major local infrastructure projects. In 2013, the Kusile Power Station project in South Africa, the largest thermal power station in Africa, saw 60 units of SANY equipment participate in construction throughout the entire process. Among them, SANY's 750-ton and 630-ton crawler cranes stood out from numerous international brands and undertook the most critical lifting work for the thermal power station, also setting a new record for Chinese-made cranes exported to Africa.

In 2018, also in Johannesburg, South Africa, President Xi Jinping proposed the "Building a BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution" at the 10th BRICS Summit. SANY's steady development in South Africa and the fresh launch of the "SANY South Africa Headquarters Base" add a new footnote to this major initiative.

On the fifth anniversary of the proposal of the "BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution," on November 17, Xiang Wenbo, Rotating Chairman of SANY Group and Vice Chairman of the BRICS Innovation Base Industrial Innovation Alliance, stated at the First BRICS Innovation Base Entrepreneurs Forum that, as a globally leading Chinese construction machinery manufacturer, SANY Group actively practices and personally engages in this major historical process of BRICS cooperation, regarding BRICS countries as a historical opportunity that SANY cannot afford to miss.

The concept of "BRICS countries" was first proposed in the international community in 2001, and the story of SANY Group and BRICS began the following year. In 2002, SANY embarked on its globalization journey, and among the first batch of products sold overseas were 4 motor graders exported to India, marking SANY's first step in corporate globalization in the BRICS market.

After years of deep local cultivation, SANY India now holds a considerable share of the local industry market in multiple vertical product fields such as excavators, cranes, piling machinery, mining machinery, and road and port machinery. SANY's localized manufacturing plant in Pune, India, represents an investment of more than 750 million rupees. At the celebration of its 20th anniversary, SANY India successfully achieved the milestone of selling more than 22,000 units of equipment.

In another BRICS country, Brazil, thousands of miles away, SANY Brazil was registered in 2007 and began investing in expanding marketing and manufacturing operations in 2010. In July 2014, after attending the 6th BRICS Summit in Brazil, President Xi Jinping personally witnessed the signing ceremony for SANY's investment project in Brazil. Over more than a decade, SANY has invested nearly 100 million US dollars in Brazil cumulatively.

Xiang Wenbo stated that at present, in order to seize the opportunities of the new era and the new technological revolution, SANY is fully implementing its transformation strategy of globalization, digital intelligence, and low-carbonization. Among these, globalization ranks first and is both urgent and important. The latest data shows that in the markets of Brazil, Russia, India, South Africa, and the six countries that were just invited to join the BRICS family in 2023, SANY Group has achieved cumulative sales of more than 70 billion yuan. The Adama II Wind Power Project in Ethiopia is the first foreign wind power project to adopt Chinese standards and technology, and is also an important measure by the Ethiopian government to protect the ecological environment and meet economic and social development needs. The project has a total installed capacity of 153 MW and an average annual power generation of approximately 500 million kilowatt-hours. From wind turbine lifting to wind farm construction, all work was completed using SANY equipment. The project meets about 30% of the electricity demand of Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa, injecting new momentum into Ethiopia's economic development and receiving high praise from the local government and the international community.

In 2017, Saudi Arabia announced to the world that it would build an unprecedented "future city" called NEOM. As the core project of "Saudi Vision 2030," NEOM covers an area of 26,500 square kilometers and is a large-scale comprehensive urban construction project involving a large amount of infrastructure and construction work. Since the second half of 2021, more than 1,600 units of SANY equipment have been deployed at the NEOM new city construction site, including cranes, excavators, loaders, dump trucks, concrete pump trucks, and various other types of construction machinery. At present, these equipment, together with more than 50 local SANY engineers, are swinging their steel arms and shedding sweat to advance at full speed the rise of a giant future city.

Over the past more than two decades, the "Chinese red" figure of SANY equipment can be seen everywhere in BRICS countries.

SANY Group became the first Chinese enterprise to establish an educational cooperation project with an Indian institution of higher learning. At the end of 2018, the first batch of Somaiya students went to SANY Institute of Technology for a one-month exchange study.
