On the morning of the 15th, with the last blast, the Hongshan Tunnel on the Liaoning Lingsui Expressway, invested and constructed by China Railway Construction Investment Group Co., Ltd. and undertaken by China Railway 19th Bureau Group Co., Ltd., was officially holed through. This is also the first long and large tunnel of the project to be holed through.

It is understood that the Lingsui Expressway started construction on August 8, 2022, with a planned construction period of 48 months. The main line of the project has a total length of 175.5 kilometers, starting from the connection with the Chifeng-Lingyuan Highway in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, passing through five cities and counties of Jianping, Lingyuan, Kazuo, Jianchang and Suizhong, and ending at the connection with the Suizhong Coastal Highway.

The construction of this project is conducive to leveraging the geographical advantage of western Liaoning being adjacent to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, taking the lead in integrating into the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development strategy, accelerating the construction of the Liaoning coastal economic belt, building an important window for China's opening up to the north and a cooperation center hub in Northeast Asia, accelerating the realization of the strategic goal of revitalizing the old industrial base of Northeast China, and driving the economic take-off of the Liaoning region.

At the same time, the construction of this project is of great significance for implementing the strategy of building a country with strong transportation, improving the highway network structure, and for improving the regional road network structure and giving full play to the overall benefits of the Liaoning Province expressway network.

According to on-site staff, the Hongshan Tunnel is located in Hongshan Subdistrict, Lingyuan City, Chaoyang City. It started construction on September 29, 2022 and is a key controlling project of the Lingsui Expressway. The left line of the tunnel is 2,198 meters long and the right line is 2,168 meters long. After 1 year and 38 days of all-out construction, the goal of double-line holing-through was successfully completed. The Hongshan Tunnel is the fourth tunnel of the Lingsui Expressway project to be holed through in 2023. The holing-through of this tunnel has shortened the distance from Lingyuan City to Kazuo County, greatly reduced the earthwork allocation and transport distance from the middle mileage of the contract section to the end of the contract section, accelerated the construction of subgrade earthwork and stonework in this contract section, and laid a solid foundation for the subsequent winter construction and the overall pavement construction next year.

The Lingsui Expressway project plans to invest 4.2 billion yuan (RMB, the same below) in 2023. Up to now, 4.3 billion yuan has actually been completed, with a completion rate of 102%, exceeding and completing the annual predetermined task target ahead of schedule.
