On November 15, the National Bureau of Statistics released data showing that from January to October, national fixed asset investment (excluding rural households) reached 41,940.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.9% (calculated on a comparable basis; see Note 7 for details). Among this, private fixed asset investment was 21,586.3 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 0.5%. On a month-on-month basis, fixed asset investment (excluding rural households) grew by 0.10% in October.

◆ By industry, investment in the primary industry was 888.2 billion yuan, down 1.3% year on year; investment in the secondary industry was 13,245.4 billion yuan, up 9.0%; and investment in the tertiary industry was 27,807.4 billion yuan, up 0.4%.

◆ Within the secondary industry, industrial investment increased by 8.9% year on year. Among this, investment in mining grew by 1.4%, investment in manufacturing grew by 6.2%, and investment in the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas, and water grew by 25.0%.

◆ Within the tertiary industry, infrastructure investment (excluding the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas, and water) increased by 5.9% year on year. Among this, investment in railway transportation grew by 24.8%, investment in water conservancy management grew by 5.7%, investment in road transportation remained flat compared with the same period last year, and investment in public facilities management fell by 2.2%.

◆ By region, investment in the eastern region increased by 4.9% year on year, investment in the central region fell by 0.1%, investment in the western region fell by 0.5%, and investment in the northeastern region fell by 3.5%.

◆ By registration type, fixed asset investment by domestic-funded enterprises increased by 3.2% year on year, fixed asset investment by enterprises from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan fell by 3.1%, and fixed asset investment by foreign-funded enterprises increased by 0.9%.
