On November 6, 2023, a reporter from Jiandao Network learned from the Lixian County People's Government website that the public participation announcement for the social stability risk assessment of the Changde section of the newly built Yichang-Changde Railway has been released. This feasibility study recommends a total construction period of 4 years, with an estimated total investment of 34.21 billion yuan.

Changde Section Project of the Yichang-Changde Railway

The Changde section of the newly built Yichang-Changde Railway is an important component of the Hohhot-Nanning high-speed rail corridor. It is an important project for implementing the national comprehensive three-dimensional network plan and improving the transport capacity and transport quality of the Erzhan corridor. It is of great significance for driving economic development along the route, for the areas along the route to implement the important instruction of "pursuing major protection while refraining from major development," to leverage the green and environmentally friendly advantages of railways, and to achieve the "dual carbon" goals.

Construction Content

The line of this project from Yichang North Station to Changde Station is 230.658 km long, of which the section from Yichang North Station to Changyang East Station is 47.198 km, and the section from Changyang East Station to Changde Station is 183.460 km. The newly built line from Changyang East Station to Changde Station is 179.638 km long, with a bridge-tunnel ratio of 76.7%. The entire line has 7 stations, namely Yichang North Station, Changyang East Station, Yidu Station, Songzi West Station, Lixian Station, Linli East Station, and Changde Station.

The connecting lines and supporting works include the Changyang East upbound and downbound connecting lines, with a total length of 3.572 km.

The main line has a total of 24 tunnels, totaling 23,018.54 m, of which 2 tunnels are longer than 4 km, namely 4,104.72 m and 4,929.47 m, and 22 tunnels are shorter than 4 km, totaling 13,993.36 m. There are 6 tunnels on the connecting lines, totaling 1,659.47 m.

The bridge works include a total of 138 large and medium bridges with 127,324.27 linear meters. Among them, there are 62 double-track extra-large bridges with 96,432.385 linear meters, 55 double-track large bridges with 16,431.08 linear meters, and 6 double-track medium bridges with 614.75 linear meters. There are 4 single-track extra-large bridges with 10,775.195 linear meters, 8 single-track large bridges with 2,817.8 linear meters, 2 single-track medium bridges with 145.06 linear meters, and 1 four-track medium bridge with 109.2 m. There are 112 newly built frame culverts with 3,840.9 transverse linear meters. There are 3 extended frame culverts with 18 transverse linear meters.

The track works include 367.146 km of main line and 28.307 track-laying kilometers of connecting lines and station lines; 81 new turnouts; 493 km of contact wire; 4 new traction substations; and 99,000 m2 of buildings across the entire line, including 48,000 m2 of passenger station buildings and 51,000 m2 of other buildings.

Route Alignment Scheme

The line starts from Yichang North Station on the Wuhan-Yichang section of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-Speed Railway. In the near term, the section from Yichang North Station to Changyang East Station on the Yichang-Fuling section of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-Speed Railway will be used. The newly built line starts from Changyang East Station, turns southeast, crosses the Yuyang River, and then sets up Yidu Station near Youzhaping on the southwest side of Yidu City; afterward, it crosses the Hubei-Beijing Expressway, runs along the south side of the Yueyang-Yichang Expressway, crosses the Songyi Railway, the Jiaozuo-Liuzhou Railway, and National Highway G351, and reaches Songzi West Station in Wangjiaqiao Town on the southwest side of Songzi City. After crossing the planned Dangsong Expressway, it immediately turns south, crosses the Weishui River, and enters Hunan Province; it continues south to Lixian Station on the west side of Lixian County in Chengtoushan Town, crosses the Lishui River and the Anci Expressway, and reaches Linli East Station on the east side of Linli County seat near Anfuxin City. It continues south along the east side of National Highway G207, crosses the Hangzhou-Ruili Expressway and the Shimen-Changde Railway in Dingcheng District of Changde City, turns east, and connects to Changde Station.
