On October 28, 2023, the 14th National Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, held once every four years, was grandly convened in Wuhan, with more than 4,000 delegates attending in person and 58,000 participating online. At the opening ceremony, the Mao Yisheng Geotechnical Engineering Technology Innovation Award was presented. The project "Research and Development and Engineering Application of Pneumatic Resonance Technology for Reinforcing Loose Foundations," led by Professor Liu Songyu of the School of Transportation at Southeast University, with the participation of Professor Du Guangyin, Professor Zhang Dingwen, and others, won the 2022 Mao Yisheng Geotechnical Engineering Technology Innovation Award—Collective Award.

This achievement was jointly developed by Southeast University and Jiangsu Shengtai Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. The team proposed the principle of pneumatic resonance, developed a series of construction equipment, and conducted systematic theoretical and applied research. They served as chief editors of the technical specification and formed a complete set of innovative technologies for reinforcing earthquake-liquefiable foundations and loess foundations, which have been widely promoted and applied in engineering fields such as expressways, high-speed railways, and buildings. This technology requires no water source or materials and has prominent advantages such as low carbon, economy, and environmental friendliness, generating significant social, economic, and ecological benefits.

The "Mao Yisheng Geotechnical Engineering Technology Innovation Award" is a science and technology award approved by the Awards Office of the Ministry of Science and Technology and established by the Beijing Mao Yisheng Education Foundation. It aims to reward innovative achievements in technology and equipment in the national geotechnical engineering field. It is selected once every two years, with no more than 2 collective awards presented each time.
