On October 22, the Qinfeng Tunnel of the Xi'an–Ankang High-Speed Railway was successfully holed through. The project is built under the responsibility of Shaanxi Company of the Xi'an–Chengdu Railway Passenger-Dedicated Line, surveyed and designed by China Railway First Survey and Design Institute Group Co., Ltd., and constructed by China Railway No. 3 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. This tunnel is the first long tunnel exceeding 1 kilometer to be holed through along the entire Xi'an–Ankang High-Speed Railway.
The Qinfeng Tunnel on the Xi'an–Ankang High-Speed Railway is a double-track tunnel with a total length of approximately 4,145 meters and a maximum burial depth of about 525 meters. The geological conditions in the tunnel site area are complex, with risks such as rockbursts, surrounding rock instability, and water and mud inrush, making construction highly difficult.

To overcome the challenges posed by complex geological conditions, during tunnel construction the builders adopted numerous innovative technologies and methods, including advanced geological forecasting and smooth blasting with shaped charge tubes, to ensure construction safety and quality. At the same time, the Xi'an–Ankang High-Speed Railway practices the concept of green environmental protection, and various measures were taken during construction to protect the ecological environment of the Qinling Mountains.
The Xi'an–Ankang High-Speed Railway is an important component of the Baotou (Yinchuan)–Haikou and Beijing–Kunming corridors among the "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway corridors in the national medium- and long-term railway network plan. The newly built main line is about 171 kilometers long, with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. After completion and opening to traffic, the railway travel time from Xi'an to Ankang will be shortened from the current roughly 3 hours to less than 1 hour, greatly reducing the space-time distance between the Guanzhong urban agglomeration and the Qinba mountainous area in southern Shaanxi. This is of great significance for boosting rural revitalization and promoting local economic development.
