In 2013, Liebherr-Components Biberach GmbH began construction of another plant in Biberach an der Riss (Baden-Württemberg, Germany). The site measures 14.5 hectares. Initially, two production buildings will be constructed, each with a floor area exceeding 10,000 m2, plus another building connecting the two with a floor area of about 4,500 m2. In addition, a four-story office building with a usable area of more than 7,200 m2 and a combined heat and power plant will be built. According to current plans, the total investment in the construction project is expected to be around 50 million euros. The future expansion capacity of the plant has also been taken into account in the plans.

Switchgear, electric motors and generators will be developed and manufactured at the new site; these products are currently produced at the existing plant in Biberach. The new branch is scheduled to start production at the end of 2014. Liebherr-Components Biberach will assign 150 employees to work at the new branch. In the long term, the number of employees at the branch will increase further.

With the establishment of the Liebherr-Components Biberach GmbH branch, the growing market demand for these products in the future will be better met.
