At 11:00 on October 10, at the construction site of the Jinghe River Bridge of the Dongzhuang Water Conservancy Project in Shaanxi, a major national water conservancy project, after 20 minutes of traction by the cable hoisting system, the last main arch segment successfully reached the assembly point at a height of 270 meters, achieving closure of the bridge's main arch.

The bridge is an important node project for external transportation of the Dongzhuang Water Conservancy Project. With a total length of 284 meters, it is a half-through spatial Y-shaped steel box arch bridge. The bridge structure presents a Y-shaped structure in both plan and elevation, the first of its kind in China. The closure arch segment is 10.72 meters long, 3.075 meters high and weighs 28.4 tons.

Ma Min, head of the Dongzhuang Water Conservancy Project of China Railway 20th Bureau, said: "Due to geographical constraints, the design of the Jinghe River Bridge adopts a spatial three-dimensional curved arch design, built with a new model of combined single-arch and double-arch load bearing. It requires assembling 26 irregular steel structure segments, with a cumulative welding error of no more than 1 centimeter. At present, there is no steel box girder arch bridge of this design in China, and it is extremely rare worldwide."

Once completed, the Dongzhuang Water Conservancy Project will become the water conservancy project with the largest reservoir capacity, the highest dam and the largest single-project investment in Shaanxi, safeguarding flood control for nearly 1.5 million people and 800,000 mu of farmland in 9 counties and districts of the three cities of Xi'an, Xianyang and Weinan.
