近日，中国国家铁路集团有限公司、陕西省政府联合批复了延安至榆林高速铁路初步设计，这标志着延榆高铁即将进入工程实施阶段。
延榆高铁自延安站引出，向北经延安市宝塔区、延川县，榆林市清涧县、绥德县、米脂县、横山区至榆林南站，新建线路长238.8公里，设计速度350公里/小时。全线设延安新区、延川、清涧北、绥德西、米脂北、榆林南共6座车站。其中，延安新区站规模4台9线，配套新建6线存车场、2条整备库线；绥德西站规模2台6线，预留太原至绥德铁路引入条件；榆林南站规模3台7线，预留包头至榆林铁路引入条件。配套新建2线存车场、2条整备库线。
延榆高铁是国家“八纵八横”高速铁路通道中包（银）海通道和陕西省“米”字形高铁网的重要组成部分。建成后，从西安经延安至榆林乘坐高铁全程仅需2小时。
