On October 8, the domestically produced super-large-diameter slurry shield machine "Jingtong Hao," with an excavation diameter of 13.3 meters, rolled off the production line in Changsha, Hunan. This shield machine will be used for the tunneling construction of the Yunchaojian River Tunnel on the Beijing-Tangshan Intercity Railway, adding new momentum to the building of the "Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei on Track."

The "Jingtong Hao" shield machine has a total length of approximately 138 meters, and the main machine weighs about 1,800 tons. It is understood that the Yunchaojian River Tunnel is the last tunnel for the full completion of the Beijing-Tangshan Intercity Railway and also the first large-diameter shield tunnel for high-speed rail in the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center area. The "Jingtong Hao" shield machine will be launched under an ultra-shallow cover of 8.8 meters, tunneling westward for 1,285 meters, during which it will successively pass beneath risk sources such as the Yunchaojian River and the Luxian Ancient City Site, and finally reach the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center Station.

To ensure that the shield machine completes tunneling through the high-density medium sand stratum in a single pass, China Railway 14th Bureau Group and CRCC Heavy Industry jointly custom-built this super-large-diameter slurry shield machine, and, based on factors such as cutter trajectory and cutterhead torque, enhanced the alloy size and arrangement of the original cutters. The shield machine's cutterhead is equipped with fiber-optic continuous and hydraulic wear detection devices, enabling real-time detection of cutter wear during tunneling; operators can promptly adjust tunneling parameters, improve tunneling efficiency, and ensure construction safety. In addition, the builders will use intelligent box culvert fine-adjustment equipment for assembly to solve assembly difficulties such as simultaneous construction, intelligent and efficient operation, and control precision.
