The Phase IV project of the Shatian Port Area of Dongguan Port is located on the west bank line of Xidatan, Shatian Town, Dongguan. With a total investment of approximately RMB 4.63 billion, the berth shoreline totals 999 meters and is built to accommodate 100,000-ton container ships, with a designed annual throughput capacity of 1.8 million TEUs. It is the largest and highest-berth-class deep-water dedicated container terminal ever built in Dongguan and has been included in the national Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area infrastructure interconnection plan.

Once completed, the project will further promote the development of Dongguan's port logistics and port-side industries, providing an important guarantee for the sustained and healthy development of Dongguan's future coastal economic industrial belt.

The DMP low-disturbance reinforcement works of this project are constructed by Shanghai Guangda Foundation Engineering Co., Ltd.

The total ground treatment area of the project is approximately 493,000 ㎡, divided into nine major zones, Zones 1 to 9. Among them, Zone 7 is the slope reinforcement area for the wharf revetment excavation, treated with four-axis cement mixing piles. The total solid volume of four-axis mixing piles required for the project is 138,273 m³, with 3,757 piles, a pile diameter of Ф850@650, a pile depth of 17.6 to 31.5 meters, and a cement mixing ratio of 18%.

To ensure construction quality and improve the uniformity and quality of the mixing piles, the owner, after considering multiple options, ultimately adopted Shanggong Machinery's DMP-I digital low-disturbance mixing pile machine, equipped with a digital construction control system, and required measures to reduce construction disturbance, ground heave, and cement slurry loss.

Because the construction work surface was formed by backfilling an original fish pond, the site is muddy and the pile machine has difficulty moving, requiring large amounts of brick slag and steel plates as padding, resulting in low construction efficiency. In addition, the site is adjacent to the Shiziyang waterway, where the sand layer is rich in water, diluting the cement slurry during pile formation.

Not only is the construction disturbance small, but its operating performance is also excellent, stable and efficient. This project is the first major project in Guangdong to apply the DMP method and has attracted attention from many parties. Leaders from Foshan Metro recently visited the project for inspection. Yu Wenbo, Chief Technical Engineer of Shanggong Machinery, gave an on-site report on the DMP method, introducing its technical features and implementation in the project. The DMP-I digital low-disturbance mixing pile machine can effectively reduce disturbance to surrounding soil by controlling air pressure and grouting pressure while being equipped with special-shaped drill pipes and differential-speed blades. The drill pipe is equipped with in-ground pressure sensors and verticality sensors, enabling real-time monitoring of in-ground pressure and verticality during construction for higher pile quality.

The equipment's intelligent digital construction control system makes the construction process quality controllable and also greatly improves construction convenience.

The digital construction control system collects and displays parameters including grouting pressure, slurry flow rate, air pressure, in-ground pressure, pile depth, pile formation speed, and pile verticality. It can generate construction records containing parameters such as pile length, construction time, in-ground pressure, cement consumption, and pile verticality. At the same time, construction parameters can be uploaded to the central control center for real-time monitoring of the construction process.
