Recently, the fourth bid section of the Nantong-Luzhi segment of the China-Russia Eastern Route Natural Gas Pipeline Project (Yongqing-Shanghai) — the Zuchongzhi Road Sikoujing work section — was successfully completed, with the XCMG XZ11000 horizontal directional drill playing a major role.

This crossing project is located in Bacheng Town, Kunshan City, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province. The actual pipeline crossing length is 1558.16 m, and the borehole diameter is 1850 mm.
The local engineering geological conditions are poor. At both ends of the project, the ground consists of silty clay with poor hole-forming performance and bearing capacity, and the large-diameter drill bit is highly prone to sinking, causing trajectory deviation. The horizontal section is silty clay, and during construction, even slight carelessness can easily lead to soil gripping the drill. The XZ11000 horizontal directional drilling rig, with its strong power and stable performance, completed seven stages of reaming and ultimately accomplished the task perfectly.

The XZ11000 horizontal directional drilling rig is a super-large-tonnage horizontal directional drill developed by XCMG Foundation to meet user needs. It features fast rotation speed, high torque, large push-pull force, and high push-pull speed. Its maximum pullback force reaches 11000 kN, and its maximum rotary torque is 240000 N·m. It is especially suitable for long-distance, large-diameter pipeline crossings.
The XCMG XZ11000 horizontal directional drilling rig is equipped with XCMG's core patented technology — "torque-adaptive automatic cruise construction" — as well as multi-condition speed regulation and multi-gear control technology for rotation and push-pull. It can adapt to different working conditions through self-learning, offering convenient and stable operation, reducing labor intensity, and increasing construction efficiency.

The contractor deployed the XCMG XZ11000 horizontal directional drilling rig plus the XMP2800 mud pump station. During construction, automatic start-stop or one-key idle functions can be implemented according to the construction status, greatly reducing mud consumption. Intelligent remote control, flow control, status monitoring, and fault diagnosis technologies save costs for the project and greatly improve project efficiency.

The construction unit has cooperated with XCMG for many years. It once used XCMG horizontal directional drilling rigs as the main construction equipment to set the fastest construction record on the Yellow River crossing of the China-Russia Eastern Route. This cooperation has now set another construction record for the longest crossing distance for a 1422 mm pipe diameter. The user highly affirms the construction reliability and service timeliness of XCMG equipment and looks forward to more cooperation in the future!
