On September 19, as the last 30-meter precast T-beam was accurately positioned, the Mofanggou Grand Bridge on the Ganzi Luding–Ya'an Shimian Expressway (hereinafter referred to as the Lu-Shi Expressway), constructed by Sichuan Road & Bridge Transportation Construction Group, achieved full-span completion of both decks, making it the first grand bridge on the entire expressway to achieve dual-deck completion.

The Mofanggou Grand Bridge is part of the main line of the Anshun Interchange on the Lu-Shi Expressway, located near Xinmian Subdistrict and Anshunchang Town in Shimian County. It is built to a two-way, four-lane expressway standard, with the entire bridge on a straight alignment. The left deck is 1,105.53 meters long and the right deck is 1,135.53 meters long, with a design speed of 80 km/h. The bridge superstructure uses prestressed concrete simply supported T-beams, with a cumulative total of 512 T-beams erected; the substructure uses reinforced concrete cylindrical piers, pile foundations, and column-type abutments, with a cumulative total of 168 pier columns cast, at an average pier height of 20 meters.

Faced with difficulties including the large project scale, tight schedule, heavy tasks, tall piers, and high risks, the Lu-Shi Expressway TJ9 Project Department earnestly implemented the management policy of "environmental and safety first, quality foremost," made scientific deployments and meticulous arrangements, and introduced advanced construction equipment. Mechanical drilling was used for the bridge pile foundations, and the T-beams were erected using a QJ 40-meter, 180-ton self-balancing bridge launching gantry. Guided by the principle of the "four first-classes"—first-class materials, first-class equipment, first-class craftsmanship, and first-class management—the project strengthened safety management and strictly controlled process organization, playing a key role in advancing the project construction.

The Lu-Shi Expressway runs along the Dadu River. The project area is close to the Gongga Mountain glacier and biodiversity conservation ecological function zone, which imposes high requirements for environmental supervision and ecological restoration and makes environmental and water conservation control difficult. The project department consistently adhered to the principle of "immediate correction and long-term persistence," focusing on bare soil coverage, topsoil stripping, and temporary retaining and protection works. It has cumulatively covered 600,000 square meters of bare soil, striving to build an "environmental and water conservation demonstration project" to further play a demonstration and leading role and contribute to building a strong ecological barrier in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River.

The smooth dual-deck completion of the Mofanggou Grand Bridge marks another phased victory for the Lu-Shi Expressway and lays a solid foundation for the expressway's smooth opening to traffic. Next, the project department will take safety production as the core, strictly control quality, vigorously pursue all follow-up work, and complete all construction tasks safely, with high quality, and efficiently.

It is reported that the Lu-Shi Expressway is an important component of the "Sichuan Provincial Expressway Network Plan (2019–2035)." The project starts at Sanggangping in Zali Village, Luding County, connects with the Ya'an–Kangding Expressway, and ends at the Ya'an–Xichang Expressway, with a total length of 96.51 kilometers and a bridge-to-tunnel ratio of 86.5 percent. Once completed, travel from Luding to Shimian will be shortened from 2.5 hours to about 1 hour, successfully bringing the two places into the "1-hour" life circle. It is of great significance for building the Gongga tourism economic circle, accelerating the development of advantageous resources and socioeconomic development, and promoting rural revitalization in areas along the route.
